How come people think that Harbal? Have they got no faith in the vaccines, they aren’t supposed to die if they catch covid, where I might!
Well I don’t know about you OldGreyFox but we just moved to a new province in Canada, 3 months ago today. We renovated our kitchen during Covid, purged most of our stuff during Covid, sold our house during Covid, bought a new house during Covid and travelled 1/2 way across the country during Covid.
We now go out walking, kayaking, canoeing, boating and biking whenever we want. We go shopping whenever we want and so far have met plenty of new friends. We’ve been invited to dinner parties twice and have had many people over to visit us.
None of these people we meet wear masks nor do we expect them too. We don’t hug but aren’t 6 feet apart either nor do I plan to live the rest of my existence doing that.
I respect people’s right to choose what’s best for them. I wasn’t going to get vaccinated either but if I want to visit my in-laws and friends, I have to. I can’t travel without going into quarantine which is something I can’t always do so got my first one last week. One of my nephews and his fiancé who is a school teacher aren’t. Frankly, it’s none of my business what others do either. I certainly don’t harshly judge.
Actually that’s not true and most places still suggest wearing masks even after getting the vaccine. You can still get Covid after being vaccinated. All stores still require masks even though our province only has a handful of cases. Any places indoors except for our neighbours, we wear masks and practice social distancing.
Not everything about the vaccine makes sense at all BuT the end result is that the vaccine is helping reduce the spread of it. It has actually been scientifically proven
Well I don’t really have the authority to speak on their behalf, Foxy, but I think it is to do with the concept of herd immunity. The more people there are protected against the virus, the more completely it will be eradicated.
I’m sure most people understand that having a medical condition that may put you at some sort of risk by having the vaccination is a legitimate reason not to have the jab.
Well done Bratti, that sounds brilliant, especially the sporting activities…You have done well to have done all that during covid…
I’m not so badly off Bratti, I live in a small village and know a lot of people here, especially those living in my cul-de-sac, but the only time I get to socialise with the rest of the village is at Midnight Mass in the local church at Christmas. I’m not religious, but Mrs Fox is, and likes to attend, and to be honest I find it quite uplifting and refreshing meeting folk I haven’t seen since last Christmas, but it’s mainly old folk, and I suspect as congregations dwindle as people pass on, it will die out completely.
Mrs Fox and me live in a kind of microcosm and covid seems a million miles away, so I have no need for a vaccine, I never had the flu vaccine either and have remained fit and healthy, and if I am struck down with the deadly virus I believe I have all the tools either for a speedy recovery, or to meet my maker…We all take risks each time we step outside our doors, covid is just another in the long list of unpleasant misfortunes.
It will never be eradicated Harbal, it will just morph into something different. How many jabs will people subscribe to before something else puts an end to their struggle? You can’t vaccinate against death or the number 9 bus with your name on it…
The Covid vaccine is a response to an immediate and particular crisis. What happens later is something that will be dealt with if and when necessary. all your what-ifs sound a bit like empty excuses. I’m sure you take precautions not to get run over by the number 9 bus, don’t you. I mean if you saw it coming, you would surely make sure you weren’t in its path. 
I’m just playing Devil’s advocate, Foxy; I don’t have an issue with your decision.

From everything I’ve read that you’ve ever written, you sound like a well adjusted person who loves life. You are very active and enjoy many outdoor activities. Don’t you wave or nod to other joggers, walkers, bikers etc. That’s a form of socializing. It isn’t as intimate as you might prefer but it can be a lot of fun.
When we go out boating we wave at other boaters going by.
We view it as a social activity. It’s just not as intimate which is ok. You just have to find your new norm and be ok with it.
Things ARE getting better. This was a HUGE wake up call to the entire world to wake up and enjoy every single moment cause life is precious. Suddenly life’s simplest pleasures are precious.
They always were. I think we got spoiled by technology and began thinking we were invincible.
You aren’t too bad off. We both have lots to be grateful for and I bet those church Christmas’s are going to get more pleasurable which is awesome.
My attitude is very similar to yours. Except for moving and my husband retiring, our lifestyle didn’t change much due to Covid so we weren’t as affected as most. Then again, most of what we do didn’t require the need for others and still doesn’t.
Like yourself, I’m ok to meet my maker. I’m not afraid of death.
I’m afraid of wasting a life worrying about all the what if’s….
Soak it all up Mr. Fox! Why change now. You’ve got this.

The artist said he couldn’t do the tick.
So, I’d have to pay full price!
But I do wonder why more people don’t go for the tattoo version which only lasts 6 months?

Thanks Bratti, you write a good post……I do have an infinity with all runners, and I wave to boat people passing by on the canal, but I meant ‘we’ as a community, and it doesn’t seem as close as it was when I was a boy. Religion and the local pub have been replaced with TV and the internet…
