Summer Insect bites

Tabs, if it is on my hospital records, wouldn’t it also be duplicated on the GP records too?

Can I access my hospital records to have a look, or can only a doctor do that?

Not necessarily - it is more of an issue for hospitals because of the danger of being given the wrong blood type.

Yes - you can ask to see ypur hospital records. Sometimes they may ask you to go in and view them - sometimes they offer you photocopies. You can ask for all XRay/Scan photos as well.

Now I think about it, I remember asking to see Mum’s hospital records because of her appalling treatment. I vaguely remember we had to go to another place though, it wasn’t at the hopspital itself, and I seem to think there was a charge for copies of something like £50 - and that price was a few years back now, so makes me wonder what they would charge nowadays.

Due to the ‘freedom of information act’ they should now be free. Mine were.

Just looked on the NHS website Tabs, and you are quite right, they do not routinely check blood groups.
If you had an accident and needed a transfusion, it says they check at the time to see what group you are, before they proceed.
Doesn’t seem a good idea to me, not if someone is rapidly bleeding to death!

I will have to look into this, me thinks.

This maybe useful -

In most cases, the information will be provided free of charge.

Thanks for that Tabby.

I don’t so much need all my records though, I would only like to know my blood group really though.
I was thinking that if I went through donkeys years of records and find there’s still no info on my blood, I wouldn’t be very pleased.

I will enquire either at the docs, or my pharmacy sometime next week, I think.

Mups we used them over two decades in the tropics and I’m still here !
However this evening I did a bit of late gardening and I’m covered in bites and woe is me I can’t find the Anthisan
Luckily on a whim I bought some Banana Boat Aloe Vera gel today and put it in the fridge and it seem to do the trick .

As an ex blood donor I know that my blood group is A neg. We rare blood groups should stick together, we could be persecuted

I’m type O which is common but I have irregular antibodies so I’m classed as Anti LE A7…just to be different

I’m a regular blood donor, am A+.

Yes, but have a look at this, it’s part of Bruce’s link. They also contain Citronella which is not good for the dogs to inhale.

## Health concerns

There’s growing concern about the adverse health impacts associated with the burning of mosquito coils and sticks indoors. The insecticide products used are generally considered safe, but it’s the particulate matter produced from a smouldering mosquito coil that poses the greatest risk. Is it correct to conclude “burning one mosquito coil in a closed room amounts to smoking roughly 100 cigarettes” as some have claimed?

The link between smoking cigarettes and poor health outcomes is clear. What about mosquito coil smoke, especially if there’s almost daily exposure, as there is in some countries?

One study estimated the particulate matter produced from burning one mosquito coil was equivalent to burning 75-137 cigarettes. This amount of exposure poses a health risk, but there is a lack of clear evidence that the long-term exposure to mosquito coil smoke increases the risk of more serious health impacts such as lung cancer. In the face of this uncertainty, the key message should be to avoid prolonged exposure, especially in enclosed spaces.
