Subwoofers - have you got one?

Talking of bass the sub woofer on my 7.2 stereo system has packed it in, I haven’t yet determined whether it is the speaker or the amp but I am a bit peeved!

I originally only bought it because I couldn’t hear the sound from my TV as I got deafer so it needed a bit of a boost but I have grown used to it and I still hear the low notes it is the higher frequencies I have lost but I need the sub back.

Get it fixed Bruce! I would cry if my sub died! In fact it did not long ago, so I bought one of these:

No I don’t but lots of cars do around here. :grimacing:

I did some tests today and it looks like it is the amp. I plug the sub into an av (phono) output on the same amp and it worked, I a few years ago I would have investigated it and fixed it myself but I think that might be beyond me now.

For a while I did think of getting a new one but a similar one is about $2000 now so I looked at an entry level one in particular a 5.1 Yamaha RX-V385 (mine is a 7.2) for about $450 but I have got too used to the facilities in mine.

I’ve a Bose speaker that connects by Wi-Fi to my iPad .
My woofer has 4 legs and a tail

That’s a sub yapper.
