So, I attempted making my first ever Scottish Tablet.
Here’s the step by step process in pictures!
I will definitely try this again but next time remove the toffee off the heat earlier
I really enjoyed making this

Wow Minx that looks good. Send me a bit will you
That looks mouth watering, Minx
Thank you. It’s really good
Don’t rub it in Just send me some of it now
That looks really good @Minx but for lots of us Scots, real tablet is made without vanilla.
You might like to try it without, if you make it again.
My sister & her daughters make lovely tablet but I myself always struggle to get it just right even though our dad taught us both as youngsters, so if I need some but I haven’t got any I cheat and buy mine from here:

Their 1kg bags seem not to last very long BTW.
Here’s an idea for you ifyou like the sugar hit of Scottish tablet: Scottish macaroon.
Here’s a recipe if it sounds like your sort of thing; we love it.

A Scottish friend of ours we know from Scottish Country Dancing, a really nice chap, once gave us a bag of ‘tablet’.
To be honest, I didn’t like it one little bit! It isn’t like fudge at all: hard and not very tasty, in my view anyway.
Still, it was very nice of him anyway.
Thank you Zaphod, I tried the recipe in the link below from an earlier post yesterday.
Next time I’ll exclude the vanilla extract. It’s was just a hint of vanilla - quarter of a teaspoon to be exact.

And thank you for the Scottish Macaroon I’ll definitely give it a try!
I enjoy Baking
This one is good, texture is different - grainy and slightly brittle but I love it!
Fudge is sometimes so sticky it sticks to the roof of your mouth - not the best feeling in the world!
I know you do @Minx and it’s lovely to see you try something so traditionally Scottish.
Here’s another recipe, this time for something we traditionally eat at New Year; see what you think to the sound of this?
That’s how I know you did it right, because it’s kinda grainy and firm.
Now I want some!
Wonderful stuff! Thank you Zaphod!
Virtual plate heading your way
Each to his own. I like fudge: soft and sweet.
Of course, I can’t eat it ad lib, cos I’m diabetic!
