Why should pubs receive help when pensioners don’t??

During lockdown two local cafes closed. Coffee houses that closed around early evening. Family venues type places.
These have been replaced to two new licensed premises along with two of the current boozers applying for license extensions.
I don’t believe for one moment that the hospitality industry suffered that much before … or will suffer now.
Who knows? Maybe the need for local pubs as places that serve a local community might actually re-emerge.

I reckon schools and care homes need help way before any help should go to pubs. Heck, we all need help fgs!!!
Oh and libraries and community centres - because that’s where everyone who can’t afford to heat their homes will be gathering come winter. And don’t say pubs and cafes can meet that need - yeah, sure, and rake it in over the bar/counter while they’re at it.

Schools and libraries also have lots of books that can be burned to take the chill off a cold winter evening. After that, they can move to desks and bookshelves before moving onto parquet flooring.

Too true … a brilliant idea.

Well if it was good enough for the third reich, and Truss gets the keys to the drinks cabinet in number 10,…
You tell him Sheba … I’ll hold him down whilst you tickle his feet in punishment.
Churches. Pews, altars, lecturns and books aplenty.
All flammable …
Not only pubs facing increased costs but also drink driving laws have to be considered as well. Long gone are the days when one could get away with driving home after a few pints

In fairness, don’t think many will be able to afford the price of fuel to drive home either.

Our council are planning on creating some warm spaces this winter where residents can go and socialise and keep warm instead of staying home alone in the cold.

Pubs fit the bill, surely.

Hi
All joking aside if Ms Truss does what she says she will we are all of us going to be in for a horrible time this winter.
Boris was dangerous because he did nothing.
Ms Truss is even more dangerous because she will do something and that something will turn a bad situation worse

@OldGreyFox … good for them. I wish my own council would do the same.
even now walking to ones own “local” may take 5/10 minutes but getting home afterwards can be counted in hours
