Prince Phillip

Well 'tis said that if you can’t say something nice about someone then say nowt. On that basis in this case I’ll say nowt.

I did see in the news that the queen wore a special brooch that Philip gave her on their engagement. That was a lovely gesture, I thought, seeing as she probably can’t visit him.

Much appreciated AT…

I’ll tell you what I thought was disgusting on the news tonight - photographers!

While the doctors were trying discreetly to transfer the Duke to an ambulance outside, there were the press, like Piranhas they were.
Even when the ambulance started to pull off, they were shoving their cameras right onto the ambulance windows to get photos of an ill person.

Absolute scum those reporters are.
Can you imagine how you would feel if it were you, or one of your family in that ambulance?

I didn’t see it, but why were they able to get so close for goodness sake? Where was the security? That’s disgusting behaviour.

:023:

The young are often criticised for slagging us oldies off and yet here we are, some oldies on here slagging off an almost one-hundred-year-old man. I’d never abuse a person older than me (was taught to respect my elders) no matter what their station in life.

I agree Mups, but those photographers are only interested in what money they can make with that photo :!:

Anyway, I suspect they were not socially distancing…so shouldn’t they be fined like many other people have been.

As a husband, father and grandfather, it is to be expected that his passing will be felt. However, every other elderly person on the NHS would be put on a death plan. Yet this 99 year old is given 6 weeks of the very best care. This isnt palliative care this is the best care.

St Bartholomew’s is an internationally renowned teaching hospital in the City of London. We offer a range of local and specialist services for the treatment of cancer, heart conditions, fertility problems and endocrinology. We have a minor injuries unit, but we do not offer A&E services.

That is why he has been sent there & I don’t think they have all that teaching & equipment just in case a royal member needs it.
It is an NHS hospital that cares for anybody with these health problems, no matter how old they are or how wealthy!
People have no need for a “death plan”, unless they are terminally ill, and I have not heard any report that says Prince Philip is terrminally ill. I expect he has a private room but he will get the same care as everyone else. That is why our NHS is so admired!

They have a crust to earn like anyone else .

Telephoto lenses?
There were no actual pictures taken of Prince Phillip just of the ambulance.

So does everybody else! I am sure that all who have been fined for doing what they shouldn’t, regarding Covid, think they had a justified reason… but all they are doing is risking further people being infected with this virus!

If we are going to win the battle with this virus then rules should apply to all, apart from those who are authorized & already risking their health trying to save the infected or preventing people breaking the rules!

Worse… are the two wannabes who ran off to America and intend having their ‘poor old me’ rantings shown on television all over the world. Meanwhile, their grandfather is seriously ill in a hospital.

How unfeeling, despicable and selfish of them.

I think so too Art.
They of all people should have some respect for their grandfather and have the decency to let it go at this time .

I agree that their timing is really off on this - but, to be fair (as much as I struggle to be fair with the runaways), Harry is self isolating and has booked a plane so he can return immediately if there is any reason to…and having read that back now, I see what bunkum I wrote. However…if Harry were to return now, the press would take that as…well I can see the headlines now :frowning:

This talk of photographers…the only reason they do it is because there is a sufficient number of people in the general public who show enough interest for it to be worthwhile reporting.

Saw staff trying to hide proceedings by surrounding him with opened umbrellas.

Would have been mightily funny if the DofE had been moved out via a different exit unknown to the press, and if those holding umbrellas had suddenly had sooty and sweep appear over the top of one umbrella giving the photographers the v sign.

My goodness Dex, that’s an imaginative scenario right there!:043:

Perhaps it allows folk to voice their opinions about Phillip, not a bad thing IMO.I don"t believe he was a saint ,specially not in the early years ,perhaps he mellowed in later years ,who knows !:!:
Still has had a good innings TBh ,and it will be a sad thing for his family ,however we all have to go in the end

Hi. In fairness, my question was a reply to another poster.

Agree with your post.
