Presumably she still gets enough enjoyment out of it now, even though the workload has been cut back. So, I wouldn’t worry too much about Charles. He’ll have his bit of fun, delivered at an appropriate rate.
I don’t think she would have given up Art - she has a strong sense of duty.

I think you may well be right Art . There is a strong possibility that the Queen will outlive him .
It doesn’t say much of what she thinks of her son if her sense of duty won’t leave it to him .
It’s certainly is an anachronism but the individuals are not entrapped in it like flies in Amber it is their choice and their very comfortable comfort zone !
One cannot but wonder just how onorous the “job” is if she can still perform her duties at such a grand old age.
I certainly hope not. Charlie Windsor is a year younger than me and I definitely want to outlive her majesty the Queen of Australia and her hubby Phil the Greek.
Even worse Charlie has the advantage over me of being pampered all his life.

I doubt it I think William will be the last king of the U.K. after that there will be no more monarchy .
It will be his decision not ours.
It will be our decision because future generations will baulk against paying vast sums of money for the upkeep of an anachronism.

This is just my opinion …when I think about the treatment Philip is undoubtedly receiving in hospital his every whim catered for balance that against the overworked unfunded crumbling NHS .
Where nurses haven’t the time to check to see a patients dinner is within reach. It can’t be right .
I’m not saying if the monarchy where to disappear everything would be fine in the NHS.
But the ostentatious displays of wealth and privilege in my opinion have to stop when there is so much poverty, every life is precious.
I would respect royal family as I do members of public if they were to hand over MORE of their wealth to good causes.
Any man who serves in the war as did Prince Philip ,served on war ships ,put his own life at risk, is a Big Hero, in my eyes.
I also think Prince Andrew was used as a decoy in the Falklands war…must read further about that.

The NHS is not underfunded. Just under resourced in terms of staffing. That’s because they cannot recruit here and many staff come from abroad. We have had this discussion on other threads.
I’ve also heard a recent report of a friend’s sister who is currently an inpatient being forgotten about when it came to eating and they gave her a sandwich at 11pm when they remembered. She is seriously ill but luckily her family have managed to get homemade food to her. The government needs to do more to recruit to the massive number of vacancies and the first step would be to reinstate the nursing bursary.
Most men in this country were in the trenches etc at the time. IMO any man who went to war was a hero. Not sure whether prince Andrew deserved a mention on this thread. Perhaps a topic for another thread as will undoubtedly derail this one.

Indeed anyone who lays their life on the line are “ Hero’s” including NHS workers.
Prince William met some people at an event in Norfolk yesterday who asked after Philip. William winked and said he was being looked after, and was doing ok.
Pixie, even if he wasn’t,William wouldn’t be allowed to discuss it,;-)…imo.
