Nothing nada zilch :frowning:

£50 meant a lot more back in the 80s or 90s when it came through. Otherwise they are the biggest con ever. cheapest way for the government to borrow money from a gullible public.

Yes you are right Annie but where else can you put it ?
Interest rates are crap ,stocks and shares are risky and it’s adds a little excitement at a win .

£25 for me and £25 for her in doors.

Hardly a con when you can get your money back with 5 days notice (value battered by inflation accepted) unlike the National Lottery where your money is gone for good if you don’t win.

This morning I did a very quick calculation and found that, over the last 12 months, my winnings on Premium Bonds came in at the equivalent of about 1.25% interest (V’s winnings were close to 1.1%). While this is still well below inflation, it certainly knocks savings interest rates .

Yes! £100 this time, about time too.
I think it’s a brilliant way to invest, you keep the capitol, you’ll never lose that & you get money back, some times any way.

Thanks, Mags.

yes but it goes down in value over time

The age I am that doesn’t really matter.

That is the other thing. I am not sure what the process is now but years ago you had a piece of paper that was a pain in the neck to keep track of and there was a complicated process to get the dratted things redeemed. So I am sure that many forgot completely about these, particularly when they got older. Easy to throw them out by accident and then replacing them was a nightmare. I wonder how many unredeemed and long forgotten PBs there are out there. Right up there with uncashed travellers cheques.

It’s all online now

Anything I am lucky enough to win is paid directly into my bank account.

Everything is so easy these days.:slightly_smiling_face:

Agreed, as I pointed out in my post 1008 above, it gets battered by inflation over time. At least, by reinvesting any winnings as we do, any loss in value IS mitigated to a certain extent.

March results are now available and between the two of us £600 this month :ok_hand::grin:

With interest rates on the increase at last, I think we’ll see more ‘prize’ money available for our PB’s
