Just one word Surfermom…Fartlek!
Hello you two. Nice to see you back.
Things are opening up here too, and while standard training sessions now have to be booked at least the gyms are opening. Since time is restricted to an hour now I’m going 4 times a week and in another couple of weeks I’ll up it to 5 times a week. I won’t go higher than that though as a couple of rest days are always a good thing. With the walking involved getting to the gym entailing a 3 mile trip that’s not too bad. I certainly feel happier working some stress out.
As long as you stay active, that’s a positive! Gardening is good exercise and fun too!
Today’s Exercise-Mini-Murph
Ok, I am new here. As in, brand new! Thought I would go to a thread I have some background in.
My workout earlier:
Ran 1 mile
50 pull ups
100 push ups
150 air squats
Finished with another mile
I enjoy exercising and staying healthy. Try to get a min of 4 days a week in.
Good suggestion Floydy. You seem to have a solid workout routine. Assuming someone can exercise regularly, 4 days a week is a good amount. What do you do for exercise?
Floydy doesn’t post here any more. It’s a shame as I miss him because he is a great guy and always very supportive.
Welcome to the thread by the way!
Welcome from me also Silverathlete, good avatar by the way…
Yes, I miss Flydy too, he kept us all in hand and motivated, and added a new dimension to all the fitness threads.
I just run 20 miles per week with some pressups (push ups) every day. I only do the push ups because if I don’t it will be another thing that I can’t do anymore…
I’ve just turned seventy, and will keep going as long as I’m able to get out of bed in a morning. I think this phrase sums it up rather nicely:-
Don’t stop running because you get old;
You get old because you stop running:.…
Nearly back at my pre lockdown daily pace target of 30000 paces a day. I fast walk at 2100 paces per mile so, 30000 is 14.25 miles per day or 100 miles a week, the equivalent of walking from central Birmingham to Central London every week.

Hells Bells Spitty  Some of the lads down the running club didn’t do 100 miles a week when they were training for marathons…Awesome brother…
Got in 27200 paces today, tomorrow is a day of rest so, I am going to go for the 30000 plus, wish me well
Go for it Spitty, just make sure you’ve got some decent footwear on…
The ones on the right have probably got about 1500 miles on the clock and are my usual brand of choice, the new ones on the left I have tried, but just can’t hack it, so, in another couple of months it will be some new Karrimors.

Nothing wrong with Karrimors Spitty…
That’s amazing Spitty, well done mate…
I hope you are doing well Floydy! Hoping your hernias will be all healed by the New Year and we will see you back. Happy exercising everybody. That pool yoga looks quite interesting
:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:
thats some walking!
Been up to the gym last two nights, last night I did 1 hour in the gym then 40 lengths of the pool. I felt fantastic when I came out.
Been again tonight, I’ve signed up my 17 year old Great nephew a couple of weeks ago and he had gained a ton of weight during lockdown. He has a lot of weight on him to lose and I was so proud of him tonight, he did 1hr 25 minutes on the cross trainer, at a steady pace, he really does have a lot of weight on him and it must have really been hard for him. Well done my Great Nephew.
I did 30 minutes on the treadmill. 15 minutes bike on an uphill level 7 (very hard for me) 5 minutes on spin bike. Then muscle work on my upper thighs and bum and then arms. No swim tonight.
All in all a good couple of nights at the gym.
Miss Floydy a lot, hope all is well with him and his missus.
15,000 steps daily and weights every other day. Probably 6-8 separate weight bearing exercise 4 sets with medium to heavy weight.
I try to run 9-12 minutes in my 15000 steps.
I’m fed up I can’t go to the gym but John and I went for a brisk walk today. It was damp and slippy with the fallen leaves through the park but it wasn’t cold and was actually quite pleasant. Doesn’t beat my swim but next best thing I suppose. At least we got some exercise done, this lockdown can tend to make us lazy .
I like walking but it isn’t a substitute for a good gym workout. Ditto my stretchy cables and torsion bar that I use in the house. I hope the gyms open back up on Dec 2nd according to plan!
