Caliper Bracket Painted and reinstalled.
i donât know what ya doin but it looks kinda mans fun!! - you moonlightin for a nippon firm??
heâs nippin here
heâs nippin there
our nippon spitties nippin everywhere
he has bikes strewn around him
and some parts that just dumbfound him
but he has his van to transport them everywhere!!
One side done, just waiting for the new pad retainer springs to arrive. There is a problem on the other front Disc, the allen headed Disc retaining grub screw has rounded off so, I have to drill it, and try to remove it with a bolt extractor.
why donât you build your own complete bike and call it spitzrambler??
This is the 8mm allen bolt that had the head rounded off.
When using the extractor, it broke off where the thread starts, so, now now I have to run a 7mm drill bit through then re tap the 8mm thread
DM, the problem wasnât that simple, if you look at the Hex Recess that takes the allen key, the removal tool was bottoming out before the left hand gripping thread could grip so, I had to drill a hole (5mm drill) down the center of the threaded bit of the bolt so the removal tool taper could dig in, this had the effect of weakening the bolt at the point where the treaded bit starts so, the threaded part of the bolt (now hollow) was left in the hub, this has now been drilled out to 7mm then tomorrow I will try to get the tap into the existing thread and recut through the bolt material.
@spitfire , Thatâs what l meant Spitty, if youâd drilled smaller to start wiv
and used a smaller extractor the wall thickness of the 8mm screw wouldâve
been ficker and stronger ??Anyway l spect youve dunnit by now ??
Donkeyman!
DM, the trouble with these extractors are, the bit you grab with a wrench is tiny, and, this 8mm bolt was well and truly stuck, I had to try for the biggest one I could.
wouldnât want you to build the next Ark then - leaks all over???
No Ark building here, once its gone, its gone.
No whereâs ark?
have you told the missus?? she may need to know??
Gummy, please refrain with the âGrubbyâ comments.
Back to the subject, job done, half hour more will see both front corners done, time for the backs then.
@spitfire , Talking of grubby, The screw in question is a shallow headed
Allen cap screw,!
A grub screw is a totally threaded headless screw that is used to fasten an
item to a shaft without allowing the screw to show above the surface of
the item !!
Just saying !
