You could arrange their names (including the horses) to be written on balls and put in a tombola. Would prevent any sense of favouritism. Might do that myself actually, as well as some bingo balls just to get my money’s worth out of the crem, and give anyone who bothered to turn up a chance to win something and make the day less pointless.

My friend was lovely but her husband was so boring. He spoke like a Sergeant Major with a put on ‘posh’ voice.
One day when l visited her, he started telling me something and l zonked out, right in front of him.
All I remember was him saying… ‘She’s gone’!
