The camera is one of those which has the lens open out longer. It is the panasonic DC- TZ95 pocket camera.
so took it for repair over Duxford airfield to a Panasonic repair specialist. This is where Top Gear was filmed from. What an amazing place with several large aircraft parked there.
Eventually found the shed number amd met the repair guys, I like to know who I am dealing with.
They said this is a common fault and already have 3 others waiting for the same parts to arrive.
Left the camera with them and now just got to wait.
I missed this originally.
Did it get repaired?
yes now better than before
update
And what a horrible experience. Panasonic G9 mk2
An SD card got stuck in a camera slot so took the camera to my usual local repair place who removed the card as card had come apart in the slot and removing it damaged to slot contacts.
Now for the insurance battle still not resolved. The insurance broker pass the claim on to the underwriters AXA. Here one even asked to photo and video or the damaged part.,What a photo of a camera SD card slot and also a video. It is sheer ignorance I am struggling against all the time.
From there bounce around 3/4 different departments. Then passed it on to yet a claim accessor. Here the women has lied up to her teeth saying it must have been put in the slot back to front, impossible to do.
It got even nastier as she hinted I had a criminal background and heavily in debt, neither which is true. Next wanted details of my house insurance which I refused to give here as it is confidentual and may well come under data protection act. This was the 4 or 5 call she made to me. that is only a b it of what went on as well
This has been going on for at least a month and still not resolved .This is the shortened vesion of what has been going on. and the camera would still be with me
To give some idea I looked up a report by trust pilot on the brokers camera claims reports. Would you believe they have a score over 20% complaints in the lowest score possible? each one more of less the same as mine regarding camera claims. I am not surprised
Needless to say I will go to another company not underwritten by AXA. I have to emphasise this is a small fraction of what has been going on trying to get my camera rpaired . If left to them I woild still have ma camera waiting to be fixed.
Thank goodness my thoughts we Bo**cks to all this I want my camea repaired.
So sent it of to an authorised Panasonic repair centre, not through the insurance company. Got a quote which I paid for . This afternoon it has been repaired and back on its to me via snail mail tomorrow.
some other reports I read about this company

Absolutely awful experience with camera insurance.
Unfortunately eversure are underwritten by AXA. I now know what that means, and recommend they are avoided based on this.
My claim was submitted seven months ago. After a bit of faf getting bounced between Eversure Axa, Sedgwick and bevalued to get compensation for lens hire, I waited for the lens to be repaired. I received my lens back months later, severely damaged by BeValued’s chosen repair company fixation. The lens was sent back to them, with fixation accepting liability for the damage but refusing to provide compensatory lens hire (at this point hire was no longer covered by my insurer). The lens came back over a month later, still damaged. The lens was sent back again, and was destroyed in the care of Bevalued.
For the past seven months I have had to CONSTANTLY badger BeValued, Axa, and Sedgewick, with no useful input from Eversure. Axa have since settled and paid for the now destroyed lens, but over seven months after I initially submitted my claim I am still £500+ worse off after incurring costs from BeValued/Fixation ignoring the proviso in their own terms and conditions about providing compensatory lens hire when attempted repairs have been negligent. My first complaint to Axa found Bevalued/Fixation liable, but I am still waiting for these costs to be paid and (pretty typically for the last few months) conversations get bounced between each stage of the process, with no one willing to take responsibility. A second complaint has been raised as the resolutions suggested by the first have not been actioned, and the ombudsman will be the next step of the process. If you’re insuring a supertelephoto lens, go somewhere else, because due care will not be taken. Preferably an insurer that takes care of the underwritten process for you, because this process has been an enormous ordeal that has cost me a tremendous amount of time and money.

I didn’t have a good experience when i…
I didn’t have a good experience when i put a claim in for a damaged camera lens. Firstly the way the interview was conducted face to face via video it just felt like i was branded a crook. I was asked pointless questions where i worked and whether i was vat registered that had nothing yo do with my private claim. The insurance agent should have had all the information to hand when i made a claim including date and other information yet she still insisted when i didnt have the info to hand, she also insisted i show her my backpack on video and where the lens fell out from, she also asked from what height did the lens fall from when i had the backpack on my shoulder. She questioned me why didn’t the other lens fall out and why did only one lens fall out. Pathetic questions when i was claiming 300-500 for the repair of the lens less 100 excess. The agent even argued with me about a claim in my household in the last year about an item i have no idea about accusing me of giving false information. Summing up i have been with eversure 3 plus years i will never renew with them again
ME
i AM AMAZED EVERSURE ARE STILL OFFERING CAMERA INSURANCE.
If they had a claim about a car crash no doubt the would have paid out thoiusands of pound to pay for repair or scrap.
My camera claim came to around £540 which included labour charges -VAT-parts £374-courier. And one hell of a battle still to the insurers to meet their contractual obligations.
broken SD card that caused all the trouble, now only using new ones
They might have been asking about your home insurance because that often does include things like cameras, laptops, push bikes and the like.
Insurance companies are very keen on getting someone else to pay.
Did you get your money back? I presume the UK has an ombudsman to take your case if you don’t.
