And I have said many times these icegrips are no use on black ice/getting on & off buses/ or in & out of shops.

What Ice Grippers Offer

Ice grippers are slip-on attachments designed to fit over your regular boots or shoes. They typically feature:

  • Rubber or elastomer frames for flexibility
  • Metal studs, coils, or chains for traction
  • Universal sizing to fit various footwear

These devices provide extra grip on packed snow and moderate ice conditions. For short walks on predictable terrain, they can reduce your slip risk significantly.

Where Ice Grippers Fall Short

However, ice grippers have critical limitations that manufacturers rarely emphasize:

Thin black ice defeats most grippers. Black ice forms as a nearly invisible, ultra-smooth layer on pavement. Most gripper studs cannot penetrate deeply enough to create secure footing on this deceptive surface.

Inconsistent performance on mixed terrain. Walking across gravel, transitioning between indoor and outdoor surfaces, or navigating slopes reduces gripper effectiveness dramatically. Testing shows that [some popular models perform poorly]

I’ve never tried them to be honest but I’m tempted to give them a go … it can’t hurt.
Thank god it’s supposed to be going warmer. It’s still white in the shade here today.

The Metropolitan Police arrested a woman after she refused to stop feeding pigeons.

Oh gawd!..I hope My Neighbour sees this and stops throwing out food for the pigeons who shit all over My washing when out on the line

It’s ridiculous though … soon you won’t be able to break wind walking down the road.

@May … it’s terrible stuff to get off too. God knows what their guts look like inside.

Good morning People, was awakened @ 6 this morn with rain battering against the window, strong winds too,so the temp’ has gone from -3c to 6c overnight…
I’m sitting here with a coffee and a slice of carrot cake My Daughter baked for Me yesterday…That’s one good thing about living alone…I can eat cake in the morning without Someone giving Me a look of disapproval.

Have a good Sunday All,x

Today we are having rain/snow and 2C…real fun, innit…

Afternoon. Never tried ice grips either. My hairdresser has the same problem with pigeons, one of her older neighbours feeds them. and they poo on her washing line. Personally I don’t like them. Weather seems a bit better today, debating whether to go out to the local shops.

Good morning All,a cloudy but dry one here and temp’ @ 9c…WM on the go,and a pot of lentil & veg soup simmering on the stove…not stuffing My face with cake this morn’…just the usual porridge

Have a good Monday all.xx

Good morning. Grey skies here at the moment. Going into town later to meet a friend for lunch, will be wrapping up like an Eskimo to go out.

Good morning All,a wet wet one here but I won’t be going out as I have an annual gas service between 1-5pm…They sent Me a letter last week to remind Me,then a phonecall yesterday, then a text this morning…jeeze!!..I’m surprised I didn’t get an email as well.

See Ye A’ later,x

Evening cold here today and the sun was trying to make an appearance. , Had my hair and nails done then a bit of food shopping. Will be glad when it gets a bit warmer.

Morning another cold one here. Housework this morning and then a quick look round the sales and then food shopping.

Afternoon, We have a touch of Spring here today, wall to wall blue sky and the sun’s quite warm, AND, there’s no wind…Wonderful. Was at Tesco earlier and they had some bedding plants so I got a box of Polyanthus for the tub at the back door. They fair cheer the place up, they will be lovely once they flower properly.
Got my eye test this afternoon, dreading it as I do every time I have to take it :anguished:
Have a nice day all.

Good afternoon Each…it was white with frost here this morn’,but now just grey & cloudy…Haven’t thought about planting anything in the garden as yet,but looking forward to the Spring,

Been busy clearing out the linen cupboard so now it’s all tidy again, but I forgot about the storage space under the bed where I found a load of cushions, covers, & curtains…jeeze!..they can stay there as I don’t know what else to do with them.

Have a good weekend Folks,I don’t think I’ll be around much as My eyes get strained if on the laptop for too long.xx

We have a rotary washing line which has a zip up cover to fit over it when folded up. We also have a couple of bird feeders hanging nearby for the small birds. The big woodpigeons can’t get through the cages around the feeders but the small birds always drop some seed onto the ground. Pigeons then peck up this seed, perch on the top of the washing line cover and relieve themselves after a good feed. I suppose we now need a washing line cover protector. Why make your life more complicated?

I’ve been baking apple pies all afternoon for Mr M … I think he’s starting to look too thin when standing next to me now I’m putting on weight.
I suppose I should diet …
nope, not going to happen.

Ah … I read something today about an awful cold snap, beast from the east coming to the UK around the end of the month.

Hi Morti

Absolutely no need to diet at all Morti.

Follow the science,

The average lady over 60 uses 300 calories each time she has sex.

Simples, you keep eating what you want to and keep him happy with having sex 10 times a day, preferably of course, with him.

Happy to have helped with your dilemma. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

Sounds a bit energetic Swims … 10 times!!
