Hey, life ain’t worth living without the occasional treat

I just made a big bowl of ambrosia and for lunch yesterday I had salad, but today I decided to have baked grouper. Yesterday I didn’t finish my salad and today I didn’t finish my fish. I dunno, I guess I just don’t have much of an appetite right now. But I’m making a pot of split pea soup. I’ll probably take a serving of that for lunch tomorrow and the ambrosia for dessert.

Hi Linda, never had Grouper before, I know its and ugly big fish. In Maderia on holiday I had their local Blackened Fish, it was very nice, but never heard of it before.

Today we are having a Roast dinner with Chicken Breast.

I seem to like ugly fish, lol. Ever seen a Monkfish? That’s the “poor man’s lobster” I was talking about before. So delicious, but they are terrifying looking fish.

Making Shepherd’s Pie today with vegetables.

I had a blowout day yesterday. Started off good with a roast beef (very lean and nice and rare) and veggie (red, yellow and green bell peppers, mushrooms and baby spinach) sandwich on a 100-calorie whole grain sandwich slim. Healthy, filling, I was happy. Until I got AND CAVED INTO a craving for a hot fudge sundae. So I left work and ran up the road to McDonald’s to get one. 300 useless calories full of fat and sugar.

Then my boss comes in the door carrying the usual office snacks he buys. I don’t snack much, but he always keeps snack mixes and pretzels around. Those I usually pass up. But he was also carrying a bag of my favorite crisps. I caved yet again. So after I’d eaten a hot fudge sundae and crisps, I slipped into the old familiar “all or nothing” mindset and ate pretty much what I wanted the rest of the day because I felt I had already blown it.

Why do we do that? Instead of saying “Okay, I’ve already screwed up for the day, may as well go for broke”, I should be saying “Wow, too many calories already, I need to back off the rest of the day so I don’t go overboard.”

But noooooooooooooo… it’s like this instead: my whole day is already shot, so why not eat the refrigerator?

You naughty girl.

Yeah, well, I don’t feel so great about it. Since I stopped counting calories, I’ve become careless again. I’m tired of counting calories, but it’s the only way, for me, to stay accountable for what I put into my mouth.

~sigh~

Oh yeah, and I came home from work at ate biscuits. Two chocolate and two cinnamon. That was yesterday as well.

We have just had:

Cornish Lemon Sole, spicy new potatoes, fine beans & carrots with a cheese sauce.

What you had reminds me - I need to buy some Cornish hen soon. Haven’t had them in a long time.

Today we are having Beef Casserole - 3hrs cooking time, with new potatoes, cauliflower and carrots.

I found a new recipe that I think I’ll try tonight. Spinach Quesadillas.

I love that Taste of Home site. I’ve found so many wonderful recipes there.

Looks good Linda.

We had a roast dinner today with Chicken Breasts.

I LOVE roast dinners. Can’t beat 'em for a healthy, hearty meal.

This Sunday for dinner I’m making corned beef & cabbage…

Yummmmmmmmm…

Last night for dinner I had grilled chicken, avocado and roasted red bell pepper on a whole grain English muffin.

Funny, that… most people in England don’t even know what an English muffin is, so I’ve always wondered why they’re named so.

I think it was in the Victorian days they had them.

We had Chicken again.

Where do you actually live Linda?

Hi

I am on a serious diet, my weight ballooned to 90 kilos.

I am eating loads, but losing weight.

Vegetables and fish.

My dietician is a very nice lady and very sensible.

She insists we have one day a week off, a pig out day,

She says it is the best way of avoiding getting fed up with the diet.

Do you not eat any Meat Gibbs?

Hi

Not on this diet Susie.

I have been basically immobile for months and on Steroids.

I am very weak and exercise is very difficult.

I need to lose the weight to be able to move more.

My one day off a week, I do eat meat, I love it.

Once I lose the weight and can exercise more, I will be back to meat eating.

I’m in the midwest United States, in Ohio.
