Let’s face it despite the hype the Queen is not and never was not anything more than an averagely intelligent badly educated woman who has managed to maintain a dying institution by almost never making waves ( apart from a couple of wobbles over Aberfan and Princess Diana ) when it’s well past it’s sell by date .She has lived her entire life in a protected bubble of privilege and deference and really has no idea how her average subject lives .

No it the voice of common sense I have nothing against the Queen personally indeed I have met her and she is charming but I am not a royalist . Charles won’t last long and William will be the last King of England the time of hereditary kings is long past .

I might be wrong but all ex PMs are offered a knighthood or peerage and it is thought he has already refused either .
