Musk giving $100m to UK Reform?

The possibility of Musk making a massive donation to a UK political party (Reform and Farage of course) has been reported. It seems that if this donation was provided from one of Musk’s UK businesses (X, Tesla, etc.) then it avoid the foreign interference laws. This would pretty much mark the death of the Conservative party, would give Reform the basis for a winning campaign in 2029 and would provide ample funds for 5 years of anti-Starmer propaganda.
It would also usher in an era of money buying political influence like never before.

I always thought there was something about Elon Musk that I liked…Now I’m sure…

Nigel’s sucking up to Trump has paid off then.
The Tory’s obviously not right wing enough these days.

To be honest Mr Smith, I don’t care much for all of this right and left wing stuff. I like most of the things that Farage stands for, but I also like some things that the labour party are considering.
And I can’t discount the social democrats especially in my constituency. I actually voted for them in the last GE.

Muskito only cares about himself, and he must be pooing his pants now that the revolt against repugnantly greedy exploitative billionaires appears to have begun… https://forum.over50schat.com/t/has-the-revolution-started/107307

I’m sure you are happy with your electric car and your satellite internet connection. However, I’m surprised that you are happy with foreign interference in British democracy. I thought you were quite patriotic. Obviously not always.

Ha Ha, I absolutely hate electric vehicles including Tesla’s, If they had been invented first before the internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine would have been hailed the invention of the century and you would never have heard of an electric vehicle again after that…Except in milk floats and golf trolleys.

You actually talk about foreign interference from Musk because he wants to give a quid or two to the reform party? Can I remind you of the gargantuan national debt that we owe somebody, and how that somebody has been dictating to the British government (labour and conservative) for the last 50 odd years… :009:

I’m sure that the global banking sector, to whom that debt will be owed, applies pressure on each successive government. But that is substantially different from a national of another country providing massive funding to one single party. Worse that Reform thinks this ok. That says a lot about the integrity and patriotism of one Nigel Farage.
I’m worried that you seem so very comfortable with this explicit external influence - just because the beneficiary would be a party and a politician that you like. It says a lot about your own integrity and your view of what it means to be patriotic to the UK.

Are we talking WEF and the IMF Lincs, I think they are exerting more than a little pressure…They own us! So it’s irrelevant who you vote for…Reform and Farage might just be our saviour…
Reform
Yep. you can count on me Nige… :+1:

Give me a break - Farage is going to save us from the banks? Farage went very silent on de-banking after he got a pay out from NatWest. He had promised a massive campaign - what he meant was that he hoped he would get a pay out for himself. Job done, move on. That’s the man who will save you from nothing.

The reform party and Farage will do a better job for the British people than the bunch of WEF puppets and scallies who are currently in office.

No they won’t.
But that is not the issue for this thread. The issue is foreign people using their wealth to buy influence in another country. That is the worry here. Which you seem not to be worried about. So much for being patriotic, eh?

But this is ok?

The U.K. Labour Party plans to send almost one hundred members to the U.S. to assist the Harris campaign in the upcoming election.

I never said that was ok. Why ask me?

Like I said cause and effect.

Uk get involved with US politics, US gets involved with UK politics.

“Get involved”.
So you are comparing little bit of volunteer help with pushing $100m into one minority party? Again, I have to doubt your judgement. Or perhaps you are unaware of the very limited political spend in the UK. There is no comparison here. Try another argument.

That’s my point. It’s ok to lie a little bit but a massive lie is different. Nope, a lie is a lie big, small does not matter.

I’m trying to figure out double you tea eff Musk is doing at the Notre Dame reopening ceremony.

I’m surprised you like that toad, doesn’t he want to dismantle the NHS?

While I agree it’s broken (controlled far too much by big pharma and their puppets) we’re lucky we don’t have a US-like health care system here!

Azz the REform party manifesto said

The party sets out an extra £17bn a year for the NHS. That’s significantly higher spending than any of the three main parties. By 2028/29, the Conservative Party is pledging around £1bn extra in cash terms for the NHS, Labour around £2bn extra, and the Lib Dems £5.8bn extra.
Doesn’t sound to me they want to dismantle the NHS. what they say is the private medical section could ease the load on the NHS to shorten waiting times to start with
