Hello, to everyone. My first night on. It’s so lonely out here,
and the only family I have left is a 26 year old son that is working on his Masters and never has time for Mom. By choice
I invited my 93 year old Uncle to stay with me. Doctors were going to send him to a Nursing Home and I said no. He is very health but can’t drive anymore. A 30 years difference in our ages so we have very little to talk about. I get so tired of hearing his war stories. We have joined a Senior Center and he is doing well and I joined the Advisory Board. It still isn’t the same has having true friends to share everything with.

Hi Lyn a very warm welcome to the forum … I hope you will enjoy your time here with us…
Hello Lynn, a very warm welcome to you, they are all a lovely bunch of folks on here and they’ll talk about anything, so you won’t be long about feeling at your ease.
Hi Lynn welcome to the forum,
Hello Lyn welcome, I look forward to chatting with you .
Hi![w]12[/w]
Hi Lynn and welcome from me too
I hope so to. I just hope I can get more info on dealing with my 93 year olf Uncle. It looks like he will be with me a very long time.
Thanks for the welcome. Feel better already. Any advice on how to deal with a 93 year old.
Mar,
Well chat away. How do I deal with a 93 year old uncle that I have nothing in common with. Was out last night and when I came home he was still up and his words to me were. Your Late. I felt like I was back in High School and my Dad was on my back for being late.
Start a chat, how do I deal with an Uncle of 93 years that talks about war stories over and over again!
Hello and welcome Lyn from me too.
Maybe you can start a thread on the General Board.
Welcome Lynn. You are obviously a kind person to take in your uncle so I’m sure you’ll be patient with him. We all hope to be that age and still healthy.
Welcome to the forum Lynn. Hope you enjoy yourself on here. Cant tell you how to look after someone who is 93 as my family never get that old. If someone had have said Your late to me I would have just laughed and said you are funny having a joke with any age of person breaks the ice and also the routine you seem to be feeling. Older people do seem to live in the past as they feel they don’t have a future so you could let him onto your PC and show him the new World we now live in. Or get some old friends to come to see him if he still has any. Just a thought.
Take care and hope everything goes well for you.
Hi Lyn,
Welcome to our forum, we are all very friendly on here and ready for chats. Susie xxxx
Hi Lyn welcome to The over 50’s. I Have a suggestion, how about starting a thread about your uncles War stories, I’m sure there are lots of people on here who would be interested in reading them I would for one…good luck with your Uncle
Good idea Basser! I wish I’d written down all my Dad’s stories. Now I listen to the old fellow next door with his war stories and keep telling him to write them down! I like listening to old men, especially, with their tales of yore!
You are right there Twiz, listening to it straight from the horses mouth is the best way to get historical truth before the politicians get to it and think up an ‘Official version’
Good morning Lyn darlin’ and welcome.
