Limericks. (New)

On a beautiful moonlit night
When the stars were shining bright
A small baby cried
a false lover lied
Which culminated in a really big fight

The lover proved to be untrue

It is fine and I have written down the rules now. I hate being shown up though.just feel really bad now.

The lover proved to be untrue
His actions he’d come to rue

The lover proved to be untrue
His actions he’d come to rue
When his got found out

The lover proved to be untrue
His actions he’d come to rue
When his got found out
She gave him a clout

The lover proved to be untrue
His actions he’d come to rue
When he got found out
She gave him a clout
Then strutted off home for a brew

He’d really put her off men

He’d really put her off men
Till along came the gorgeous Ben

He’d really put her off men
Till along came the gorgeous Ben
With a big flashy car

He’d really put her off men
Till along came the gorgeous Ben
With a big flashy car
and a giant Yorkie bar

He’d really put her off men
Till along came the gorgeous Ben
With a big flashy car
and a giant Yorkie bar
’Twas a case not of ā€ifā€ but of ā€whenā€

In the posh London suburb of Pinner

In the posh London suburb of Pinner
He thought he’d impress her with dinner

In the posh London suburb of Pinner
He thought he’d impress her with dinner
But all she got were some chips

In the posh London suburb of Pinner
He thought he’d impress her with dinner
But all she got were some chips
Which head straight for the hips

In the posh London suburb of Pinner
He thought he’d impress her with dinner
But all she got were some chips
Which head straight for the hips
At this rate, she’d never get thinner

She made up her mind to ditch him

She made up her mind to ditch him
No way could she date someone that dim

so the rules have confused me…does not take too much but here they are…
A fresh start for limericks.
Lines 1. 2. And 5. Seven to ten syllables with the same verbal rhythm.

Lines 3. And 4. Five to seven syllables with the same verbal rhythm.

E.g. There was a young lady from Nice
Insisted on bathing in grease
She slid through the house
Tormenting her spouse
So he hid in the oven for peace.

So it is ok for the rules to state line 3 and 4… 5-7 syllables
yet seems to me there is less than 5…seen many others…or except I am still not getting it…

Dianne, i dont see the problem with the limerick you have quoted?

Those lines are 8,8,5,5,8 syllables.

. . . . So show me where the problem is and i will try and help.
But if you’re really struggling, i would just do other games that are less hassle perhaps?

  • I know many of the rhymes are too long, but that is because when someone writes too many syllabuls, it makes it difficult for the next person to put right.

She made up her mind to ditch him
No way could she date someone that dim
She’d look for a guy

She made up her mind to ditch him
No way could she date someone that dim
She’d look for a guy
Who was handsome but shy

I thought it was three words…and it said 5-7…christ really and lost now with the words…not saying at all that I am dyslexic, but most of my family are…exit not be back on quizzes ever…music will be me from now on…
