Leisurely Scribbles (part 5) (Part 1)

No woes from me Young Roberto.
I was in the New Forest on Tuesday, we ended up in a little village called Romsey in the Test Valley, Hampshire.
Apparently, they have world famous tomatoes.
I have never heard of them, have you?

Well I know one called Rodney-he won the ‘reddest tomato’ world championships,Pie.

Oh, another thing I never knew.

I know of Romsey because of SADDLERS MILL . In the 1950s it was a great tourist attraction & people came from all over to witness the wild salmon leaping upstream and over a raging weir.

My nurse Gillian’s grandad was butler to the wealthy philanthropist John Joseph Crosfield, of Embley Park, a country house near Romsey
Grandad was with the family from 1900 to 1956.

I dunno anything about Romsey Tomatoes, although there is a hydroponic enterprise at nearby Houghton.

If you are ever in that area you must stop at the JOHN O GAUNT pub.

I will Young Robert.
I had a private tour of this place.

sorry ma’m we don’t do tours here this IS the funny farm OK? - gawd those bournemouth yobs think they own the country!

Jabberwocky
BY LEWIS CARROLL
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
