I've had my chest x-ray

Glad that has lifted your spirits Dreamy.
I am going shortly, so I hope you have a good nights sleep.
I will log on later, but I expect you will be sleeping.

What a good post Twink, I think you may have hit the nail on the head there! Ffosse, I do hope you sleep well tonight and have a better day tomorrow. Then it will be almost home time!

I’m worried now about my MRI on Monday…whether I’ll still be here or have to go home then come back for the MRI. Then I have a CT scan on the 17th.

Don’t worry Dreamy, if you have to go home, then so be it.
At least you can escape.
Are you restless?

Yes I don’t like the feeling of being cooped up which these infusions give me.

At least I’m sleeping well with no sign of the delirium which I dread retuning.

At least you are sleeping Dreamy, things always seem worse at night. It will soon be over, so hang on in there, lots of support for you. I will keep looking for your updates.

I’m home, but that was an experience I wouldn’t relish repeating.

It’s just being constantly hooked up to 2 machines; having to take them with you when you go to the bathroom; the tangle of wires that inevitably occurs.

I put on weight, and it’s all because of the water - my calves have swollen up and I still don’t feel well.

On the second night I chewed through the wire (luckily it was just saline and bicarbonate of soda); same again last night. In hospital I have a way of acting out my dreams.

And I’m expected to go all the way back out there tomorrow for an MRI. I really don’t feel up to it and may put it off, even though it is an important appointment.

The taxi driver on the way back went the slowest route possible, adding pounds onto my fare. Still, it’s good to be back home.

Good man, Ffosse, for coping with that experience. You’re a brave soul fella :023:
I would get the MRI scan out of the way and then it’s done with pal, you won’t have it on your mind. Hope all goes well mate

Oh dear Dreamy! Chewed through!
Relax now you are home.
Tomorrow is another day. X

I should sleep well tonight and, you’re right, tomorrow is another day. I might go to that appointment - it is at 12:30. I’ve also got a CT scan on Thursday so it would be amiss if I went to one and not the other.

Then I see the consultant on the 22nd.

That’s the attitude Dreamy.
Thanks for the update, you know I worry. X

Hi Ffosse  I am pleased to hear you are home , you should rest better now in your own space.

There’s nothing better than your own bed. No bells or buzzers. Nobody roaming around. Nobody shouting. Bliss.

Glad you’re home Ffosse, you can relax for a few hours now which you probably couldn’t have done if you were still in hospital.

As Floydy said above, go for the MRI tomorrow, then it will be out the way and you will be back home in no time.

Pleased to hear you’re home again Ffosse, you should sleep well in your own bed after disturbed nights in the hospital. At least that part of the treatment is over and done with.

I agree that it would be best to get your MRI scan out of the way tomorrow, you will need the results from that and your CT scan for your appointment with the consultant on the 22nd.

I did sleep well - uninterrupted from 11 'til 8:30.

Today I’ve got to haul myself back there for the MRI. I’ll just call a taxi at about 11:45 (the appointment is for 12:30 and they say to arrive 10 minutes early).

Flosse:-) I’m pleased you had a good sleep and you are in a more positive state of mind this morning. I hope all goes well with your MRI …

I’ll be taking a few diazepam before I get into that machine.

Is it that scary Dreamy?
I have never had one, but, my son might.
Stay calm, not long now.

Well, today went amazingly well.

The taxi to the hospital was more expensive as the MRI unit is located on the other side of the main hospital and he had to use different roads to access it.

Once I was there, I drank some oxycodone liquid to calm my nerves and I was seen really quickly. You have to put anything metal inside a closet which is then locked. The buttons on my jeans are metal so I had to pull them halfway down and use a sheet on my legs. But once I was on the table, a pillow under my legs for comfort, I felt fine. Then it was a glide into the scanner.

They can speak to you in between the machine doing its thing so I was always told how long each session would be. I think it was 4 times 4 minutes and 1 times 2 minutes. I had a rubber bulb to hold and press if I felt stressed but didn’t need it. The machine is very loud so they provide ear plugs. It’s a procedure definitely not for the claustrophobic (which I am).

My mind seemed to automatically switch elsewhere and I was thinking about needing to visit the chemist, and what I was going to have for tea tonight that the whole procedure hardly fazed me and it was finished in no time.

I have a CT scan on Thursday and, for the life of me, couldn’t remember which building it was in (I had lost the letter) so made my way up to Ward 8 to see if they would know. Then, I bumped into my haemotology nurse and she asked me how my chemo went and did I have any side effects. I mentioned the mouth ulcers and she insisted on taking me to Ward 1 to have a look.

She examined the inside of my mouth then gave me 3 prescriptions: bicarbonate of soda as a general mouthwash; Fluconazole in case I have an infection; and Benzydamine (Difflam) (which costs Ā£10 in the chemist). This latter is most welcome as it’s a local anaesthetic for the mouth. I rinse my mouth out with it before food; it basically numbs the mouth. Eating anything (or having a cup of coffee had become really quite sore) so I’m pleased that I’ve got that sorted.

I had to go to the chemist, anyway, for a replacement of the liquid oxycodone and some diazepam. I swear I’ve got over 100 Oxycodone tablets and over 100 Diazepam in the house. It’s a good job I’m not addicted to the former but they will come in handy for any moderate to severe pain, and the diazepam I can always use.

The nurse also highlighted on a hospital map exactly where I have to go on Thursday, so no more worries about that.

Then I visited the deli near me and bought a pie and a pastry (steak) for my tea tonight. I also got some salad and a fruit salad for half price.

So, all in all a good day.
