Well I’ve had a busy day after a bad night’s sleep.
I had to go to a shop on one street then visit my chemist in the opposite direction. I could barely make it I was so out of puff. Every time I came across some steps or a bench I had to rest until the feeling went away for a while.
Then my neck became seriously sore and stiff around 3pm. I took my Oxycodone which had little effect. I managed to see a GP who had a cancellation at 4:30. She examined me then said that the way I was feeling was a combination of everything - the cancer, the chemo, the surgery, the worry of it all. My pulse was up but it’s been raised since I first became ill. She did offer an ambulance to take me to Ward 2 of the hospital where I could get more fully checked out but I demurred. She said that it didn’t matter but that if I was to feel any worse then to phone the surgery as soon as possible or the haemotology hotline (which would involve a trip to Ward 2 again - last time I was there I felt claustrophobic and panicky whilst being wheeled to x-ray.
I need to slow down and take each day as it comes. At least my appetite is still there - if that went away then I’d feel as though something was seriously wrong instead of a lot of smaller issues coalescing.
This business of not being able to walk far is maddening for me. I’m still putting off Tesco grocery delivery and I don’t know why. I must have been on their online pages a dozen times. Meanwhile I’m using the Co-Op which is small and expensive although just about within my radius (I still have to stop halfway there, though).
Still, today I managed to sell two of my older watches for a reasonable price; I can’t say I have buyer’s remorse after yesterday’s purchase but it was a hell of a lot of money even if it was just sitting in my bank. I actually have some physical cash which is good for smaller purchases in the shop below.
I use Sainsburys for online shopping and they do mid-week afternoon slots for just a £1. The Tesco delivery charges are more expensive. Just do it Ffosse, no point exhausting yourself doing grocery shopping.
Do they charge you £4 unless what you buy costs more than £40 like Tesco? Often I don’t need to get £40 worth of groceries although I suppose I could just shop less often.
I haven’t been able to find someone who would do my shopping for me, except 1 friend now and again. I think I prefer actually being in the store.
Yes, I phoned PIP who asked for a lot of information including when I first became ill, when I had my surgery and when my chemo started. They said they were going to post out some forms but my claim is now active. If the money is to be used for mobility, then that will more than cover my needs even if I just get the standard rate. Everyone I’ve spoken to says that I should get it, having incurable cancer, but I’ll wait and see.
I’m hoping I sleep better tonight. Last night I slept from around 10 'til midnight then not again 'til 6 to 9.
I was away yesterday, stayed at the Premier Inn in Beverley and had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a while. Couldn’t stay longer as I have to keep an eye on the calendar, it’s bloods tomorrow ready for chemo on Wednesday.
In many ways I’m the same as you Ffosse, I get tired and out of breath very quickly and have to keep resting. Also I have a good appetite, strange really because I’ve never been a big eater!
It does sound as though you need help with your shopping, whether you get it delivered or can find someone to help you with it. I think once you get it organised, the delivery option will be best for you. Does your pharmacy not deliver Ffosse?
You WILL get it. You WILL get a special rate as well.
The money will help with lots of things for you.
You ARE entitled to it, and it is NOT means tested.
If you do get a mobility scooter, it will NOT use all the money. Mobility only take a small part.
A very quiet day - I haven’t been out, just sat at home reading but I did take a siesta this afternoon, though, not really sleeping but resting despite sleeping better last night.
I got that exhausted, out of breath feeling twice today just by visiting my closest shop and back. I am definitely going for Tesco Online Groceries from now on.
There is no point in making myself ill needlessly.
Funnily enough I’ve once again tonight had a problem with my tesco online late evening order not turning up when it was supposed to and having to reschedule. I completely forgot this happened once before. Not impressed.
Make sure you order so it comes in the morning. Sainsbury’s are a safer option.
