I’ve always been curious as to why the US never signed up to the International Criminal Court. Perhaps it was a guilty conscious. But now Trump (no conscious but very guilty) is pressing for the disbanding of the ICC. Revolting behaviour.
As I have mentioned before, the US has it own laws that it follows. The US goes along with decisions if they do not violate or put into question, US law.
I have given examples before about “want-a-bees” trying to make laws on others, that don’t have the same laws. For example, the EU making laws against trade with the UK and the EU trying to make laws against other EU countries by forcing Poland to take refugees that they were against.
The making of International organizations that there is the UN that can already make the same decisions.
Making new organizations just because the other is not to your satisfaction. It doesn’t work like that. Dissolve one organization before creating another, or make or adjust laws.
Each country has its own laws, the US is not unique in this. All countries also follow international laws - how else to govern trade, borders, international waters, cross border agreements, etc. The US is signed up to many international laws. These laws, for those agreements, supercede the local laws of the countries involved. So the US gives up its own laws in these specific cases.
I have zero idea why you highlight EU trade with the UK. In EU terms the UK is a third country - one outside the EU or the EEA. Therefore of course the trade with the UK is governed differently to trade within the EU. Why are you shocked by that very simple fact?
The ICC was set up to act as the court to hold people to account who were unlikely to be held to account in their own country. These are people who have committed or led the committing of horrific crimes. This court must be international, it cannot be the court of simply one other country as that court’s jurisdiction stops within that country and the laws of that country.

The brick-and-mortar construction is being privately funded by President Trump and private donors — NOT taxpayers.
Congress was NOT debating funding for the ballroom construction itself. The federal funding request was for Secret Service security upgrades and East Wing security modernization tied directly to protecting the White House complex and the President of the United States.

It is very common for an international commercial contract to specify the laws that are to apply in case of dispute. If the contract is conducted under the auspices of an international trade agreement then the laws that apply will defer to that agreement, and if not applicable then to the laws agreed in the contract. So a US company based in, say New York state, are very likely to find that New York state laws do not apply, nor indeed US federal laws. US state or even federal courts may not ever be involved in a dispute.
I’m sure that you can find critics of international law - but that does not mean it is disappearing or obsolete. Just that you’ve found some people complaining. How dull.
Yes, that was my original post on this topic. The question is why? What is the US government afraid of? Being held to account for wrong doing most likely.

As it stands, 65 countries across the globe have declared independence from the United Kingdom (formerly known as the British Empire). Of those, 50 hold an annual holiday — like the 4th of July — which means independence from Britain is celebrated roughly every six days.
Actually what the rest of the world does is wonder whether what the US is afraid of (afraid like little children caught doing something wrong) so much that they dare not sign up to the ICC. And what America is doing by not signing up is simply demonstrating that they are guilty. That must make all Americans so very proud.
Same as they must be proud of their crippling debt. Oh, not just national debt, although that is going to cripple the US soon. But the crippling debt amassed by the US tech companies as they rush to build the data centres. So much debt they are trying to hide it in off balance sheet shell companies.
