Pygmy Possum
The Pygmy Possum is definitely the cutest
love it, thanks for showing us
Yes kangaroos are quite nice
Possums are cute and much nicer … kangaroos can be bolshie beasts.
A bit like that kangaroos companion?
Wow how cute never heard of them .
I guess found in areas with lots of trees ?
Reminds me of a Dormouse
I would like to have them in the garden,we may have? but they would be difficult to spot though in the dark.
Found in the Alpine forests of Eastern Australia
Being so small and nocturnal, very difficult to spot among the foliage of the thick forest.
I looked them up and sorry to read endangered but as years go by more and more animals are all over the world .
" 3. Mountain Pygmy-possum
EPBC Status: Endangered
Scientific name: Burramys parvus
As temperatures become warmer, animals that depend on cooler habitats may be more vulnerable to climate change. One example is the Mountain Pygmy-possum. These tiny possums, not much bigger than mice, are only found in alpine and sub-alpine regions of southern Victoria, and around Mt Kosciuszko in New South Wales.
There are Eastern Pygmy Possums too.
" Eastern Pygmy-possums are more widespread, inhabiting areas from Queensland to Tasmania and parts of South Australia, including rainforests, sclerophyll forests, woodlands, and heathlands."
Not to boast or anything but we have three types of possum in our garden: The Brushtail,The Ringtail and The Sugar Glider.Which is the smallest and cutest and barks like a dog.
Oh that is fantastic , are the brushtail and Ringtail destructive ?
As you know sugar Gliders are popular pets but I heard not easy at all .
I imagine all 3 types in your yard avoid each other ?
Must be fascinating
Very destructive
We have to keep planting stuff to keep up.
Because so many neighbours have cut down their trees ,they find it difficult to move about and can get stuck in one place.eg: our garden
Why have your neighbors cut their tree’s ?
I myself would love to have them in the area but yes I suspected bit destructive going by documentaries I have seen on tv about them
When sugar gliders first available in the USA they were incredibly popular but over time many realized bit more difficult then they thought .
Most blocks here are 2/3rd of an acre. They used to have small houses and big gardens.Younger people moving in want big houses and smaller gardens filled with pools and outdoor entertainment areas, fire pits, etc…so the only thing growing will be a patch of lawn and some ornamental shrubs.
(Our next door neighbour has left two trees so he could install a zip line,so we get disturbed by his screaming brats and their friends on warm summer evenings)
I can not stand younger people , in fact I often go out on my front lawn and yell " You kids get off my lawn " yet no one on my lawn and truth is thankfully no young people in my area .
I hit the jack pot as regardless of time / day my area is a Ghost town and the neighbors are the best people going .
Ironic isn’t it as younger people scream about nature , the environment but pouring cement over grass is what they do when they buy a house .
A friends neighbor here sold her house and she had an incredible Japanese style garden with a pond / water fall beautiful dwarf palm trees which attracted lots of wild life .
The new owners removed it all and now all cement , there house their right but yes this is now the norm .
