Is someone being Conned

I have watched many artists on YouTube, a young girl in particular ,that was some time back, for the life of me I can’t remember her name, if I find her on YouTube again I will let you know.

I tell you, what an amazing artist that young girl was, the family lived off her earnings,…I am sure you are born with this gift!..it’s an incredible gift imo.

Thank you Pauline
I keep trying to improve but my main problem are I’m afraid laziness / motivation/ and perfectionism .
Perfectionism is lethal because it stops you trying. Eg I have a vision in my head of how I see a painting but can rarely achieve it . Laziness and motivation are just me !
Mr M bought a beautiful painting done on a old bit of cloth by an unknown Guatemalan artist it’s stunning .He probably churns them out on a weekly basis and will never be famous if you go to Thailand there are artists everywhere many of them brilliant

I can completely understand that because it is why Mrs Zaphod only makes cakes for friends & family rather than for money.

So I can understand it in art too but I have to admit that even though I can appreciate the likes of Lowry or Hockney, so-called “art” similar to Picasso’s cubism or that of Pollock do not appeal to me at all but it would be a strange world indeed if everybody had the same tastes.

People always associate Picasso with his modern stuff but he did some beautiful work that is not so controversial ie see his blue period paintings

I always like to see child with a dove

I can understand that as well, that’s why I don’t charge for my baking, I can’t stand that pressure anymore, I was under a lot when I was a cook.

Hi

I like paintings,

I prefer originals to prints.

I only have 5 originals.

Most originals are well out of my price range.

I simply do not understand abstract art.

We have some amazing artists on this site, Muddy and Surfermom for example.

They, to me, have real skill, abstract is not for me.

I have a simple view, anything I can copy is worthless.

I look at Picasso Buste de Femme, sold for something like $80 million, when I look at it I see something a child could have painted.

Yes I agree if you like a painting it is worth what you’ll pay for it, but… I believe if the Buste de Femme had no provenance or signature to associate it to Picasso, it would still be the same painting, but no master piece with the hierarchy of the Art world praising the Artists skill, and its value would be pounds not millions

I don’t know how to post a picture, I would appreciate if someone could help by posting a picture of the Buste de Femme, and possibly a Jackson Pollock drip and spill painting.

I like the old school artists and Van Eyck is one of my favourites. I also like the fact it was he who established oils.

Thank you Muddy

I just don’t get it, and especially as another painting has been posted underneath

I look at the two paintings and see, one has been painted by a very talented artist, and the other has a child like quality to it.

Although he did make a bit of a fool of himself in Mary Poppins.

Edvard Munch’s The Scream doesn’t seem to make any sense at all until you see the bit that’s missing at the bottom:
