Among the most widely known celebrities are Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Oprah Winfrey, Prince William, Barack Obama, Michelangelo, Isaac Newton and Ludwig Beethoven.
It’s more common in males than females.
Highest professions for lefties are architecture, lawyers and musicians and the arts. More concentrations and creative thinking are needed for these groups.
So, are you unique? I certainly am!

Mrs Fox is also left handed but strangely, our daughter was born right handed.

@RightNow … do the fully ambidextrous amongst us count as well?
I can easily work with either hand for almost everything, but, for painting on canvas or board, for some reason I am more comfortable using my left hand.
One of my daughters is fully left handed as is her husband and their son too prefers to use his left. Genetic perhaps?

Of course it counts!
Most left handers have taught themselves to adapt to right handed tools.
Scissors, spiral notebooks, golf clubs to name a few.
My 2nd husband wanted me to golf with him, so I used his right handed golf clubs.
He was “a bear” giving me lessons, but my girlfriend took me out on a course with a six-pack of beer, and lots of laughter. Note: I actually made par on the 9th hole that was all downhill! No more golf for me, I ended my career on the upside.

Who knew there was a special day for ‘lefties’.
Only one member of our family was a lefty -my older brother, and he was the clever one in the family.
Sadly no longer with us, but none of his children, or grandkids are lefties.
I seem to remember reading something about how kids tended to be discouraged from using their left hand at school, in the distant past, and that some teachers would actually rap them over the knuckles if seen to be writing with the left hand.
Thank goodness we’ve come a long way from those days.

Wasn’t it something to do with the days when children used pots of ink and nibbed pens? Writing with the left handed could smear the wet ink across the page. It could all be myth of course!

That was the thinking of the day, way back when…before we knew the reason was using the right side of the brain as well as the left! That was before my days in elementary school, thank goodness.

Yes Chilli, writing left handed means you can see what you are writing before you write it, whereas writing with the right hand means that you can’t see what you are writing until it’s written.

I was a nightmare for my teachers as I frequently started on the left of the page to write and then swapped hands and wrote from right to left with the words spelt backwards

Left handed used to be termed as ‘Sinister’ and from my Latin days during my time at school, Sinister is a Latin word meaning ‘on the left side’. Also from my dependable memory 
it refers to the left side of the shield (heraldry) as seen by the shield bearer and nothing to do with left handedness.
From my younger days of a London upbringing … Cack Handed also meant using your left hand, where ‘cack’ was a very old term for excrement. The Romans used to use their latrine sponges (xylospongium) with their left hand which probably started all this handed buissness off.

I always wipe my bum with the left hand (using paper of course) do right handed people use their right hand…
