How to stay young when we getting older

This morning, I started exercising—I woke up early at 5:00 a.m. and went for a bike ride along a quiet road for about half an hour. The cool breeze and the gentle scent of flowers along the way made me feel so relaxed.
Thank you for your additional tips and suggestions about different ways to exercise. They’re really helpful!

Thank you for the advice, Rose.
This morning, I chose to go out for a bike ride along a quiet road. Here’s a photo I took when I stopped along the way,

the roadside view was just too lovely to pass by.
It was such a peaceful and beautiful morning. At the very least, it was a great start to my new exercise routine.

@AnnieS Thank you so much for the
advice!
Yesterday, I also started exercising by going for a swim. This week, I plan to switch up my workouts depending on my mood and whatever opportunities come up each day.
I’ve already packed a swimsuit in the back of my car and keep a gym outfit ready to go, so I’m always prepared!
I’m truly grateful for all the encouragement and inspiration from friends in this forum. You’ve all really motivated me to make a big, positive change in my life.

Haha! Your wife is one lucky lady!
But I won’t surrender to aging so easily, no way!
As you can see, I’ve already started taking better care of my health.
Along with exercising, I’m also planning to eat healthier starting today.
And who knows? In the end, I might just look as youthful as Mrs. Fox!!

I’m sure that your determination will get the results that you want Pimmy.
Cycling and swimming are great ways to exercise, but don’t overdo it or you will not keep it up.
Better to start very easy and get into a routine, be patient with yourself and don’t expect too much too soon…
Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing about your progress…
PS:- That wasn’t really Mrs Fox… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
This is Mrs Fox when I first met her back in 1970…

My Mini

That Austin Mini didn’t half shift…

@OldGreyFox Thanks so much for the encouragement and great advice! Oh, I knew that wasn’t Mrs. Fox. I was just teasing! But the real Mrs. Fox in the photo you shared, wow, she’s absolutely stunning! Great figure, flawless legs, your eyes clearly know how to pick a fantastic partner!
I truly believe that taking care of ourselves starts from within. Honestly, I’m not even sure when I lost touch with my own life energy. Maybe it’s time I put all the worries down and start taking care of myself again.
Thanks again, you’ve really reminded me of something important.

Pimmy I went swimming tonight as well. My first time for a couple of months. Hopefully you felt the benefits the next day.

Keep getting angry about stuff, the more you accept the quicker the curtain closes

I went for about a five mile bike ride last night. I haven’t ridden my bike in over 10 years and I was out of shape and a little wobbly when I first got on it.

I had to replace the front tire tube and give it a good lube before going, as well as clean the cob webs and dust off it, but it worked just fine.

I got lost coming home and wound up quite a ways away in the wrong direction before I got my bearings and recognized some landmarks. It was dark by the time I finally got home.

I’ve since installed a compass app on my phone so that shouldn’t happen again. I guess I should get a headlight if I’m going to be going out at night. And I need to find my helmet. What the %$#@! did I do with it?

Hi Annie,
That’s great to hear! I’m so happy to have a workout buddy on the other side of the world. Let’s stay strong and youthful together, as a team!

Haha I get what you mean! Still working on that acceptance part, but not ready for the curtain to close just yet!

That sounds like quite an adventure! For me, I try to bike in the morning , it feels better to move forward into the light rather than ride deeper into the dark. Let’s keep pedaling!
I actually went out for a bike ride this morning too, just got back! I even took some flower photos along the way to share with friends here. We are over fifty already, but that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down! Let’s keep moving, stay healthy, and share our experiences together!

Well done Idlewild I’m impressed…
:+1:
Try and make it a routine, but don’t forget the helmet… :009:
Like Pimmy, I try to go early morning with less traffic and it’s easier to find your way home in the daylight when you get lost.

I ordered a bracket to mount my phone on the handlebars so I could use Google Maps while riding, so that should prevent me from getting lost again.

And I’m not a morning person, so no, I won’t be riding early in the morning.

I’ve used OS maps for many years when cycling or walking. Okay so you might need to hop off the bike every now and then to check your whereabouts. Wonderful maps but utterly useless for our friends outside The UK of course :slightly_smiling_face:

I had one of these some years back now.

Quite useful as long as you entered your grid reference correctly :+1:

Me (left) and my brother at the top of Caesar’s Camp, Aldershot, Hampshire, England. We were both what might be called ‘past our prime’ when we started off-road riding together. I’d be 52, which means he’d be 60. Both born again cyclists. I guess we’d be a couple of years into riding at the time this photo was taken. We’d both made the altitude though …as we did many times for the next almost 20 or so years.

Nothing lasts forever but I was grateful for the times. I’d already had my first bout of cancer 12 years earlier and this went on for a couple of years before I could begin proper recovery. I can remember thanking God for the time that I never expected and for the feeling of elation as I zoomed down from the top of that hill with all the skill needed to pick out the best line in avoiding the rocks and stones.

I miss my brother very much and wish those times could be re-lived.

If you decide to be with Pimmy be sure to give me Mrs Fox’s number.

I’ll give you Mrs Fox’s number and if you let me have your address I’ll send you my spare pacemaker/defibrillator…You are going to need it…

I don’t know if I’ll need the defibrillator but I’ve already got a pacemaker. It’s hooked up and it works. But if you think she’ll need one then by all means send it along.

@StraightUp Haha! Are you trying to start drama or just testing loyalty?
@OldGreyFox You have to make sure! If you have enough pacemakers for both of you :joy::rofl::sweat_smile:

No more pacemaker worries for me, I’ve discovered a type of exercise I really like.
