Whilst I was on the bus into the city several days ago it came to me that I see very little of the total city of Perth.
Population of 2.21 million people spread over 6,400 sq km.
I travel to and from work, 16 km each way. I go to my local shopping centre, 1km away, I visit the river regularly, 5km away and I go to local sporting matches. All within 10km of home.
Not a lot…the town centre and the local lake usually.
It is amazing really. I suppose tourists would see more of a large city than many locals
I’m in a largish town…we aren’t exactly blessed with tourist attractions ( lake excepted) but our shopping centre is very popular…the free parking helps.
not alot, prefer open spaces
I know it very well, at least I used to know the town centre. These days it’s the surrounding areas I prefer to be.
I felt the same way about my city. I was only going to restaurants and shops.
One day I decided to look up the area on Google maps. I’m not sure that I’m missing out on much. It’s just a regular city. Not much to visit. I’d have to go out of the area to see anything interesting to me.
Good point. I rarely go to the Wollongong CBD. My last visit was to a Money Exchange to get rid of about ÂŁ750 I had left over from a trip a few years before.
There are plenty of suburban shopping malls so I really have no reason to visit for anything other than very specialist shops, I would guess that I have been twice since before the start of the pandemic
I live in a small city,
but i only seem to visit the supermarket and hospital
I used to play golf but have only played once since Covid
my son asked why i didnt play so i asked him
would you play with a guy who fiddles his score, and who kicks his ball away from hazards?
he shook his head "no father i certainly wouldnt
neither will they i told him…
That’s funny, Crabby one
Every Saturday and sometimes during the week, its only 15 mins on the bus.
I go to the Theatre and the shopping Centre in Town and thats about it , When the Castle opens again I shall go there , and I would like to go to the Arboretum, Ive not been there for many years.
There isn’t a great deal of interest here, so I only go to the places I need to, which is either a shop, cafe, coffee shop.
I see it all, but it all starts looking the same
I know a good portion of my wee city, especially downtown. Daughter and I have learned quite a bit more in this past year. We’ve discovered new ways to save money, get fantastic low priced high quality nutritious foods and planning to visit local museum.
We love picking up lunch food out of Morrisons and walking to waterfront, grab a seat and look over the Clyde while munching.
Seeing cruise ships arriving and departing at the port.
Next summer, hoping to be able to have a day trip in Edinburgh and visiting the charity shops around the main street, just to change the scenery.
hi, it sounds as tho Edinburgh might only be 40 miles away, i bet a day return on the train wont cost too much, you should try a time your visit to when a Pipeband is playing at the castle, I dont know how you might find out when or if there might be a band on, but if you go when a band is playing it sure warms the cockles of your heart… i wish Glasgow had a castle…lol… i used to enjoy the museum at Kelvinside.
Quite alot tbh.
We go out every day and go to local areas for a mooch/shop and a walk.
I am the same but strike the lake and put sea’s edge and shoreline.
My home is only a single roadway width from The Green, an open public space, so without another house in front of my home, the outlook is great. Nothing to the rear either, as that faces the local rugby club. Both were excellent reasons why I bought in this exact location, especially as I was an egg chaser when I was younger.
We hardly ever go to the shops and even then the most for us is a trip to get medicine at the pharmacy.
Aye sadly we are all on nodding terms with our chemists, but whats the option…?
