How much of your city/town do you actually visit?

Glasgow has more of architectural buildings than castles, so true.

Daughter’s been to Kelvingrove museum quite a few times while at university in Paisley. According to her, it’ll be something special and wondrous to behold.

Aye Culzean Castle’s in Ayrshire. Just check my geography :joy::joy::joy:. Haunted that one, Man you’ve to have nerves of steel it’s so busy. The wee one in Port Glasgow, oof, I can’t look at it passing on the road as the windows are crowded with ghosts. Brrr!!!

No I’m not expecting a big cost for train tickets. Depending on weather and circumstances, might decide to get interlink buses to get there. Haven’t decided yet. Would much rather prefer driving but have to recover lost licence during Pandemic and no to car rental prices. Geez Louise! Too dear…

You might want to check these pages, you’ll be surprised

But… Many aren’t in the immediate vicinity of Glasgow, so weird!

Thanks @Crabby

what a great post [for me] i was born in Hamilton just off Bothwell road
i never visited Bothwell Castle because there was a Pit there, and it was the last pit that my grandfather worked at…
If you travel to Lanark from Hamilton and take the Lanark road, you pass Garrion Bridge then the next bridge is at sp? Maudsley Castle, sadly no castle remains but the gatehouse and bridge are quite stunning [if they remain] then carry on along the road thru Rosebank to Hazelbank, and in that area sits the Tillitudelum Hotel that in my day was owned by Glasgow Rangers and Scotland Captain ‘Big’ Geordie Young, i think just before it there was a path, leading to Tillitudelum Castle, sadly there are no remains, byt trust me the atmosphere remains, you should visit the area i you get a car, call in at the Popinjay in Rosebank for lunch.

Actually, Lloyds pharmacy delivery via Royal Mail for me for regular stuff. If it’s something new I have to go get it.

because i have just returned from India i have to see the nurse and also get a blood test before they will deliver. Bless the NHS but the GP are sure getting more boxes to tick, and every box represents more pound notes to them. mmm

Yes, I can understand your aggravation. I’m the ancient grumpy old bugger so get the freebies…

oh i get them free my comment is just how much the GP gets… and i do understand that the blood test can show most cancers up early door so saving lives, and my Doctor [a very nice fellow] also does minor ops. at the surgery, so missing a lot of queues…

Well I suffered with cancer but my GP at the time initially took it as just an infection on my forehead. It needed to get my GP to get my cancer surgeon get immediate surgery to get the cancer removed. I’ve still got the scars six years.

Well i got treated for almost 15 years, i even got it decored, but the cancer remained, then during Covid i got referred to Sheffield for Radiotherapy…100% success…thank you NHS

This is my exact problem with my doc’s surgery. Far too many nurse lead clinics etc and just for box ticking exercises. After the 5th, I decided to stop them all and then covid hit and they all stopped without any prompting from me. They have tried to resume most of them but too many patients wised up with only a few taking up the offer.

Wow, interesting @Crabby.

To be honest I don’t believe I’ll get a car again, the costs of fuel, insurance and all. Daughter is wanting to consider Mopeds. Which must admit been on wish list for a while.

Would be neat but the groceries wouldn’t fit LOL!

More than likely 906 to Buchanan Gallery is how we’d get to Glasgow. Need to find Baskin Robbins for ice cream birthday cake upcoming Daughter’s day.

Always felt that we’d been had with Aulds charging us £49 for a plain chocolate cake for her 18th birthday. I couldn’t believe it when hubby came home with it. Never made lick of sense!!! But at 34 she still loves ice cream.

Thanks for info. There’s also the museum of transport downtown Glasgow, I hear?

Speaking of NHS and GPs. Haven’t had one since 2012. My thyroid acted up around same time I needed to register with new move.

Got an appointment then Pandemic happened got cancelled. I found medicine at H&B, fix hypothyroidism. Lost 2 stones, feel better and no more thyroid swelling. Thankfully, Selenium was the key!

Just saying… Sorry to hear about your health problems @Crabby, @Besoeker and @LongDriver get well soon!

ive bought an electric scooter in Goa, it does over a hundred miles on one charge, it recharges in three hours, that would take you both to Ediburgh its a big scooter, like a vespa, if your just going local you might only need one charge a week, just a thought…

With the Vespa model would it still be on regular driver’s licence or a motorcycle licence?

I’m asking as this UK company recommended this:

Thank you Supernatural. I’m hanging there and still walk a lot - minus the dog…:frowning: How about you with the Selenium fix?

Wonderful! I contacted old colleagues from work and then did research online.

Found out that Selenium levels are extremely low within Scotland. No wonder my thyroid gland acted up and then the weight gain was bad. I was eating my regular two small meals a day, balance diet which I adjusted as I got older, of course.

Top of that, I was still doing my yoga and tai chi, so couldn’t understand what the heck was wrong. Then March 2020, woke up to swollen gland and knew something was up.

Got Selenium tablets from Holland and Barrett, 200 micrograms tablet, one a day with one multivitamins and iron plus iodine. Lost now, latest figures 30lbs. Back to my ideal weight and into my old clothes before this mess lol!

Thanks for asking!

I’ve been on a similar scooter back in the days. Might be rusty but it’s like getting back on bike after winter. Hopeful!

I’ll be checking that electric Vespa, sounds good :+1:

PS apparently there’s room under the seat for storage but I’ll have to send daughter and groceries two trolleys in taxi I guess. Lidl doesn’t deliver and I believe Iceland it’s only when you shop online. Bummer!
