@ The Artful Todger,. Maybe so Todgy, but the fact remains that airline pilots have now signed on
as hgv drivers, and are now earning up to £10,000 MORE than they were getting to fly passenger
planes ??
Seems to me the whole “who gets what” system needs reviewing ?
Donkeyman!
Let the free market decide the market.
Switzerland is best by far.
There are naturopath doctors.
I’ll take your word for it, but I’d like to know more about how their system works.
In Switzerland, I expect it would be quite expensive, yet if the Swiss are as rich as I’ve heard that wouldn’t really matter!
I’m really interested in how our NHS could be improved in a way that would benefit us all. Of course, the obvious first step would be to kick out everyone who shouldn’t be here and who are contributing nothing to the country. Until that happens, this country will be sunk.
I think we’re discussing REAL doctors here.
I can see that is what’s coming our way.
This might work if everyone has some sort of opportunity to pay.
Forcing Health Insurance to be mandatory, at work, would be a good start. Some already do this. (workers & Company both pay in)
All self employed, same idea, but must be into an insurance scheme.
Low Income/Unemployed, state aid, but with strict qualification.
Incomers, pay their own way for 10 years.
Then, once up and running, switch the NHS to just being a guidance & licencing structure.
GPs, Specialists, all get Customer service reviews, after each service, and any who fail are out!
Of course, money grabbing insurance companies must be regulated to avoid the current situation where the older contributors are forced out by annual price increases.
Same with care homes!
Will it happen?
Nah!
Everyone in Switzerland certainly is very far from rich! The Swiss NHS is worth googling to see how it works.
I disagree. It is quite likely to happen!
Something like it must come about anyway, because the NHS as it presently works can not continue to support everyone as we’d like it to.
I just hope that whoever organises the changes has a good look at how others do it first.
I agree that Part of it might come about.
But only part of it.
They are real doctors. They just have more education than conventional doctors nor are they bribed by pharma plus to sell their drugs.
I’ve never heard of ‘naturopath’ doctors.
Exactly what form(s) of medicine do they practise?
They’re what most people refer to as “crank-doctors”. Homeopathy and such garbage.
Every health system around the world was already falling apart before covid, now it’s tipped over. There is absolutely no perfect health system in the developed world because every wealthy nation has an ageing population living longer and battling chronic conditions. They all have their problems and are all getting way too expensive.
The best we can do is to ensure that younger people don’t get to the point where they get chronically sick - diet, exercise, community, etc. Covid has messed up healthcare regimes globally. Not sure about this telegraph report as I don’t subscribe but there is always more to these stories than meets the eye.
GPs have a terrible job whether they are seeing people face to face or not. It’s likely that similar to a hospital appointment recently they have some covid limit on the capacity for their premises to have so many people in one place. I’m sure they prefer to work face to face as that’s how they have been trained.
why do you suppose we don’t have enough doctors available?
Well prince Charles seems to be very healthy for it
As he also has the services of very good doctors it’s hardly surprising .
I believe homeopathy is as effective as saving the Daily Mail three times over your head .
Hello Todger! Lovely to see you here. You have been missed!
Natural remedies are very good for preventative health and to promote healing. Pharmaceuticals generally manage symptoms, but the body heals itself. Nothing wrong with using both. That’s what they do in many other countries. We seem fixated on popping pills as a cure all. It obviously isn’t any more than eating vitamin pills is a substitute for real nutrition. There’s a balance there. The trouble in the UK is that doctors aren’t willing to consider options outside the tried and tested prescription book because of fear of legal action. Go to France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland it’s a different story.
Well in the absence of any response from Bratti, I shall accept your explanation!
This is why I asked her specifically what sort of medicine they practise, as different people may describe ‘real doctors’ as anything they feel like.
To me, a real doctor is one who has spent at least six years studying at an established medical school, learning about anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, etc, etc., and has then gone on to even more years working upwards from being a ‘houseman’ (as far as I know they still haven’t adopted the term ‘housewoman’ yet) in gaining experience on the job.
