How can I get motivated?

I too found it hard to get motivated on my greenhouse project the other year. By the time I had taken down the old log store

and cleared away the rubble

I had lost interest it the project to some extent.By the time I had got the sub base down

then the paving slabs cut and positioned

I really got re motivated to get the greenhouse up and ready for use

Finishing off behind it made the job worthwhile

Then tidying up the last bit for a small plant pot store really made the whole job pleasing

It took months it seems to do and I thought I would never finish it

So stick with it, photograph every stage of your project to remind yourself of how much time and effort you put in to the completion.

Longdogs, I have just found this thread and I am impressed that you managed to get motivated and are now doing the work. Try to visualize what the completed job will look like, when you feel fed up, and decide what you need to do next to achieve that picture. When you need incentive, just think about how wonderful that bathroom will look, when completed, and the pleasure you will get from people telling you what a great job you have done. You could even put a photo on here, and impress us lot, but we will then all be asking if you could do the same to our bathrooms .

well said Twink.
One is eager to start, get fed up with the time it is taking, and the pleasure when the project is completed.

Been there twice with removing another log store on the side of the house which took another week. Both were built never to be taken apart or removed.

Finished the ceiling and the covings, now sitting with a cuppa and having a rest.

And done one coat of white on the walls. I think they need a few more!

Yes that does tend to slow you up. Luckily there is a very good DIY shop about 3mins walk away which has been very handy.

Thank you. Yes I will post a couple of pics when finished

Wow! Jazzi is going for it too. well done. I hope you are enjoying it now.

Spent yesterday fitting the shower enclosure which all came packed in boxes bigger than my house, so we were stepping over glass panels all day. As usual, it all came in a million parts which had to be identified and fitted together. Anyway, the enclosure is all in now and sealed so hope to use the new shower tomorrow morning.

Can’t wait to have a shower - all my neighbours are starting to move away.

I think it is the last few bits that make the job interesting whereas getting rid of the rubbish is a pain.

Invite them all to join you and show off your new bathroom … amongst other things :044:

Naughty me…not picked up a brush since Monday, but have done plenty down at the allotment. Was nice being out in the warm.

Enjoy your new shower, LD?

It’s also good to make the most of this nice weather so don’t fret.

Had a shower yesterday. :038::038: Not something I would normally shout about but it felt sooooooooo good.

Well, applied a coat of Dulux today, just finished for lunch and to let it dry. It is going to need one more coat of the white, as that dark blue is still showing.

Remind me, next time I decorate, NOT to consider a dark shade. :frowning:

Yes I bet you did enjoy it, LD.

Well done Jazzi.

Today, took out the old toilet and installed the new one in a new position so had to change all the pipe work to suit.

I am beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel now.

Well done.

I’ve applied one coat of the blue, and will do a second tomorrow.

Still undecided as to whether to change the colour in the hallway. Might just do the ceiling (being careful not to splash). Definitely the woodwork has to be done. Can’t wait for that, to see it all freshened up.

If I can start the gloss by Monday, and speak to neighbour about when he can help remove old flooring, I could well be arranging for the carpet very soon. I allowed 8 weeks for this project: seems it will be nowhere near! Well pleased at my progress.

Once I get the new carpet down in the hallway, I’ll check if the two colours go together. I can always paint the walls if I feel it’s needed, at a later date. Yes, with dust sheets!

Fantastic! Keep up the good work,

See, the only motivation you needed were a bunch of nosy so and so’s, like us, who can’t wait to see what it looks like.

Ha ha. Thanks Twink. It does help having someone to answer to, it’s normally the customer of course.

Have a nice weekend.

Removed the old towel rail and connected the new radiator. Put up a few accessories and took a whole car load of rubbish to the tip.
