How about recommending some ancient films

@Bretrick The Way to the Stars - Wikipedia
Do not despair
For Johnny-head-in-air;
He sleeps as sound
As Johnny underground.
Fetch out no shroud
For Johnny-in-the-cloud;
And keep your tears
For him in after years.

Better by far
For Johnny-the-bright-star,
To keep your head,
And see his children fed.

Might have to have a look at this one. Thank you.

It’s a good one(with a young Thora Hird ) :grinning:

Hell Drivers 1957
Too many famous names to mention, many famous faces to spot all the way through
A story about a dodgy haulage company, definitely worth a watch

Yes it is.It’s got a very American feel to it I think.Not surprising because it was directed by an Amercian.Cy Endfield.Who also did Zulu which is another good one.

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

In my childhood days, Christmas wasn’t Christmas without this film. I made sure I watched it every year.

I’d like to suggest some Westerns although not to everyone’s taste I know.
The Searchers with John Wayne
The Big Country with Gregory Peck
Rio Bravo with John Wayne and Dean Martin.

Top Hat

I haven’t watched Top Hat for decades but it used to be one of my favourite go to films.

Sometimes I am wary about re-watching old films because they might not be as good as I remember them, though that is not true of the ones I recall in my first post.

As child I loved Elephant Walk starring Elizabeth Taylor but when I watched it as an adult I thought it a load of crap. It must have been the elephants.

Me again but I only ever watch ancient films.
Cary Grant did some good comedies:
Bringing up Baby
His Girl Friday
Arsenic and Old Lace.

Do you mean Nosferatu featuring Klaus Kinski? I have seen it and I liked it.

What about the (in my opinion) very impressive nearly 100 years old Metropolis?
