How about recommending some ancient films

There’s also the 1932 “Three On A Match”, where the character Vivian and her son are kidnapped…
Vivian is a drug addict, and her husband doesn’t want to pay to have her back, so the gangsters decide to kill here and the kid…
She overhears this, and tells her son to hide under the bed, then scrawls a message in lipstick on the front of her nightgown that relays the boy’s whereabouts.
Just as the gangsters are coming through her bedroom door, she jumps out of the fourth-floor window, killing herself but resulting in the boy’s rescue.

Early 60’s, not that old but a real classic - Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Amazing Audrey Hepburn, and the gorgeous, sexy George Peppard!
Another film i watch regularly.

Do not despair
For Johnny-head-in-air;
He sleeps as sound
As Johnny underground.
Fetch out no shroud
For Johnny-in-the-cloud;
And keep your tears
For him in after years.

Better by far
For Johnny-the-bright-star,
To keep your head,
And see his children fed.

Might have to have a look at this one. Thank you.

It’s a good one(with a young Thora Hird ) :grinning:

Hell Drivers 1957
Too many famous names to mention, many famous faces to spot all the way through
A story about a dodgy haulage company, definitely worth a watch

Yes it is.It’s got a very American feel to it I think.Not surprising because it was directed by an Amercian.Cy Endfield.Who also did Zulu which is another good one.

I’d like to suggest some Westerns although not to everyone’s taste I know.
The Searchers with John Wayne
The Big Country with Gregory Peck
Rio Bravo with John Wayne and Dean Martin.

Top Hat

I haven’t watched Top Hat for decades but it used to be one of my favourite go to films.

Sometimes I am wary about re-watching old films because they might not be as good as I remember them, though that is not true of the ones I recall in my first post.

As child I loved Elephant Walk starring Elizabeth Taylor but when I watched it as an adult I thought it a load of crap. It must have been the elephants.
