Foxy is just saying society has lost substance, that has got nowt much to do with the EU, its the Global’s fault, its irreversible, who can say what an economy would have looked like, given any of many scenarios, all that is known is some folks are making a handsome living trying to predict the next global deviation.
Yes, the thing called society that Thatcher was so distainful of.
What was posted was a long yearning for a time now gone and companies & jobs now gone. Wishing it would all return is not a solution or plan. Its a fantasy. Surely it is better to look forward and even better not to knobble UK trade & investments with self inflicted harm. And doubly even better would be to look at the chap who convinced so many to vote Leave with empty promises, who is now worth millions when most are poorer, and turn your back on him.
Back to Farage.
It seems that Farage is going to be up against a star studded array of top class opponents in the forthcoming by-election. Not just Count BinFace. Also Piers Corbyn (Jeremy’s brother who looks like the local fruitcake was dragged backwards through a hedge) and Lawrence Fox (posh boy and failed nepo actor). You’ve got wonder if this is the establishment that Farage said he would be pitting his by-election campaign against? Indeed, as both Farage and Fox are posh boys who attended posh private schools (Dulwich and Harrow respectively) it raises the possibility of each of them pointing at the other shouting “him, he is, he’s the establishment”. What fun.
Nothing much to read on this thread this morning, just some old lefty venting his spleen about why Nigel and Reform won’t form the next government…So I’ll quickly move on…

I did not see that post, must have been interesting. I did share my view that Farage’s game playing in creating this wholly unnecessary by-election is slapping back in his face. He had hoped it would distract from his mistakes over taking obscene amounts of money. He had hoped it would allow him to pretend to be a man of the people fighting the so called establishment. Instead it is making look very foolish as he spends the summer fighting a dustbin.
I do not have to explain why Farage and reform are completely unsuited for senior office. They are doing that argument themselves.
If he hadn’t got into this current mess I think Nigel and his mates probably would have got in at the next General Election.
To think … our Fate depends on Burnham who engineered his own byelection, and Farage with his.
Clacton farce just gets better and better. In a X (twitter) exchange about Count BinFace one Aaron Banks tweets “Who funds him?”. Oh the deep irony of that question. Just as I was about to suggest not throwing stones if you are in a glass house … I remembered the official Reform line on such matters : it is none of your business and we are allowed to keep such things secret.
What a dope. If that’s Farage’s mate Banks trying to help then they are deep trouble.
(Banks in case you forgot was a pivotal funder of the Leave campaign.)
My kind of bloke. If I had the money I would have funded him also.
According to a couple of sources on FB - Binface 61% v Farage 39%
Binface has an honest face it’s a shame he wears a bin on his head.
I can’t remember when I last saw a politician with an honest face.
Count BinFace also has issued the sort of pledge a good local constituency MP should be aiming to achieve.
“I will hold weekly constituency surgeries. I will answer all letters and emails within three days. For every day I spend overseas, I will spend ten in Clacton. Any outside earnings will be donated to Clacton charities. On a postcode lottery basis, I will help one family per week put their bins out.”
Thia promise to hold regular surgeries directly compares to what critics have repeatedly accused Farage of failing to do. There is a pointed reference to the amount of time he has spent abroad, particularly in the United States, since being elected. The commitment to donate outside earnings to local charities also comes at an especially awkward time for the Reform leader. Farage has earned (and kept and kept hidden) millions over the last couple of years.
Not such a hard choice for voters in Clacton.
Looks like there’s a few candidates stepped forward now… though still none from the mainstream parties.
I’m seriously wondering if it could backfire on Farage now.
34 are standing … with 3 from from the Monster Raving Loony Party . I still think Binface is cute.
Who’s ‘Binface?’
He sounds like a reincarnation of JC…
They all sound good on their manifesto… ![]()
You might be a few days slower than the conclusion that Farage now looks like an idiot.
Have you not seen Count Binface’s manifesto? Have you not seen how many constituency meetings your fav Nigel has held?
The reincarnation of JC is also standing but notably different from Count BF.
I’m curious. Why do you dislike the people of Clacton so much?
I’m all in favour of 99p flakes
What about hundreds and thousands?
Amen to that!
Who wants a titchy waggon wheel…
Nope not seen any of those things Lincs, been watching the Golf and Football, and where did I say that I disliked the people of Clacton?
All I know about Clacton is encapsulated in one word - BUTLINS.
But if it is good enough for Count Binface, it is good enough for me. He seems to have sent Reform into panic mode.
