I love baking but HWMO loves Mr Kipling Cherry Bakewells so much, I can’t be bothered to attempt baking them. Much easier to just put them on the shopping list.
SG, l bet you make lovely ones as the food you make and show on here, always looks delicious.
Has HWMO, tried the trifle Bakewell Tarts that Pyxell loves?
Thanks Art, No, I haven’t tried trifle Bakedwell Tarts. Not a big fan of Marzipan unfortunately, I am the one that when finishing a slice of Christmas cake, the marzipan remains on the plate! mind you, some of the recipes and pics on here are making me drool, they look so tempting.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! You lot have a lot to answer for!
All that talk of trifle bakewells gave me the munchies, so I popped up the road to the local convenience store where I usually get them and … THEY DIDN’T HAVE ANY!
So now I am home, with screaming munchies for trifle bakewells and no trifle bakewells.
And it’s all your fault!!!
(Ok, ok, I concede that the walk did me good, and not gorging on trifle bakewells has probably done me good, too.
So I shan’t kill you just yet).
Pyxell, l can’t believe when you do have a pack of them, you eat them one after another!
Although, l can’t talk. l have been known to buy a three pack of jam doughnuts from Greggs, whip some cream up to put in the centre and eat the three, one after the other.
I haven’t had any for ages!
It’s weird, because I can take or leave most cakes, biscuits, etc., but when I find something I really like, I go ape with it for a while.
Then I stop, and am not bothered, maybe for a year or two, and then something sets it off again!
Trifle bakewells are one of those things!
Is there a TBA society?
You know, a Trifle Bakewells Anonymous society?
UJ, l don’t think l would like them. I mean, caramel and custard cream in a doughnut, doesn’t seem right to me.
I am more your, traditional, raspberry jam and cream doughnut kinda gal!
Pyxell, l agree with you saying, you can take or leave most cakes, biscuits etc. Then stop and can’t be bothered. I am the same.
I was mad on Thornton’s fudge and Gregg’s doughnuts recently. Now, l don’t want them at all.
I did make the Bakewell Tarts though, as l just fancied some and because l had eggs coming out of my ears!!
Go try ‘em Angel darlin’ - Caramel icing on top of the doughnut with custard cream filling inside - they are absolutely gorgeous - I luv 'em !!! - notwithstanding I’m diabetic.
