Hammer's odds 'n' ends

Coming Back To Life, I enjoyed, Pink Floyd always surprises me.

Too much excitement is not good so to slow down a little and ease into Wednesday I thought this might suffice.

This comes from ‘Back To Earth’ who are actually the brothers Thomas and Bruno Hasler.

To be honest the track I really wanted is not on UTube - I will have to see about getting one done - but it is a good substitute and is kinda nice. Anyway, the track is from the album: Kairos - the spirit of time.

The blessedness of a moment prolongs life for a thousand years

Dreamland Crescendo

A small but delicately formed piece of Mozart for a wet Thursday afternoon.
This is from the late and very lamented Lucia Popp and from Vespere solonnes de confessore. K339.

Laudate Dominum

Jethro Tull. From the 1996 Album: Too Old To Rock’N’Roll: Too Young To Die

From a dead beat to an old greaser, here’s thinking of you.
You won’t remember the long nights;
coffee bars; black tights and white thighs
in shop windows where blonde assistants fully-fashioned a world made
of dummies (with no mummies or daddies to reject them).

When bombs were banned every Sunday and the Shadows played F.B.I.
And tired young sax-players sold their instruments of torture
sat in the station sharing dreams of Charlie Parker,
Jack Kerouac, René Magritte, to name a few of the heroes
who were too wise for their own good left the young brood to
go on living without them.

From a Dead Beat to an Old Greaser

This is from the very talented Lisa Gerrard & Patrick Cassidy and comes from their 2004 Album: Immortal Memory.
It might be old but is a pure joy and well worth buying.

I asked for love

Time to resurrect this old thread and what better way than to have a listen to a track from the peerless composer of ‘heart or healing’ music, Michael Hoppe.
This one also features the very talented flautist, Tim Wheater which makes for a double joy.

From the superb 1993 album: Romances.
Good to relax to but the video is worth a look too.

The Waltz of Whispers

I enjoyed listening to that, George … very relaxing

Agree, very relaxing…and an unusual video.

I enjoyed it as well, very relaxing.

A nice little tune to singalong to, from the Lighthouse Family.

Free

A happy little tune from the master of film soundtrack composers, Hans Zimmer.

This is from the often quite violent but fascinating 1993 film True Romance. It starred Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette.

You’re So Cool

Nice to hear from you again Hammer. - Your taste seems similar to mine - Its quite a long time since I listened to Free from The Lighthouse Family (one of my favourites) - Thanks for the lovely music and the memory jog.

Thank you Rena, you are very kind.

Another from one of my favourite ladies, the delightful Loreena McKennitt.
This is from her successful 2006 album: An Ancient Muse.

Deep in the winter
Amidst falling snow
High in the air
Where the bells they all toll
And now all around me
I feel you still here
Such is the journey
No mystery to fear.

Never Ending Road

What an enchanting voice she has…

Another of my favourite ladies is the ethereal Lisa Gerrard. This is from the superb 2008 album: The Silver Tree.

A bit of a change of tempo now, bought about because I found a few old audio cassettes laying about that had somehow survived the clearout and had been forgotten.

Amongst this lot of treasures was the 1988, Traveling Wilburys Vol.1 album.

The Wilburys were, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty, with Jim Keltner as the tub thumper.

They put a couple of albums together although Orbison died before the second was recorded and Harrison has also since left us.

This video shows a brief but poignant glimpse of an empty chair and photo of Roy.

End Of The Line

Magic George, they played for the sheer love of music didn’t they? Never seen this clip before. I think I’ve got this song hanging around somewhere too. Thanks.

I did enjoy that George, thanks!

A crackling tune Hammer, many thanks for the link…
