Greed and the obscenely rich - how much is too much?

Just to clarify…I get income from my teacher’s pension, a small amount from private tuition and some money from renting out a couple of flats. I declare all income and pay tax accordingly. I haven’t registered myself as a company based in Holland to reduce the amount that I pay.

What!! You think Amazon’s customers should be blamed for the poor working conditions, for buying from Amazon … whilst the billionaire owner isn’t to blame and shouldn’t pay tax because he’s creating millions of jobs…

Oh wendeey I despair …you make it sound like the sun shines out of his exhaust and he can do no wrong.
He’s not a cult figure.

I need to go have a lie down and leave you to your Utopia.

She divorced him … she’s his ex-wife.

Morticia the whole world is unequal and unfair. If I had my way there would be no such thing as money.

Dext yes I know that. And I bet you get classed as one of those nasty landlords that the media are always going on about and how you should just let people live rent free.

lol yes I know she’s his ex-wife that’s what was said in the article I posted.

Nope. Never had that complaint laid at me.

Dext you trying to say that not one person on any forum you’ve been on has ever had a pop at you regarding being a landlord.

Yep. Thats exactly what I’m saying.

And how … never mind. You obviously have hopes of a Utopian world, and defend the ones with the upperhand, rather than the underdog, in the hope that the hierarchy will one day become conscious of the rest of us and dash out and do massive life-changing good deeds.

Out of curiosity, you said you were self employed … might I ask in what capacity. Don’t answer that if you don’t want, it’s not relevant to the discussion, I was just curious.

I think he might if he blurted out that he evaded paying tax.
Your argument doesn’t stand up wendeey.

You’re trying to twist it to say that anyone who criticises the obscenely rich are just envious … when in fact, people criticise them and complain because of the flagrantly hedonistic extravagant lifestyle they lead whilst they evade paying tax, in fact funded by tax evasion … something the rest of us have to pay to avoid going to prison.

And I’m beginning to seriously think you’re just winding me up and can’t really believe your own zany claims.
On that note I’ll bob off.

Hmmmmmm ok. Just wanted to write hmmmm, but site wouldn’t let me.

There’s a scale, with slave owners at one end and the altruistic egalitarians at the other.

For me, Bezos and his ilk are a bit too far from the nice end. As such, it seems only fair to take a stance aimed at nudging them in the right direction.

I refer you to what I’ve previously posted:

I did secretarial services when my son was first born, before the days of computers.

Sold house bought a supermarket.

Managed a pub.

Then back to admin work for various companies.

But what an amazing change the creation of Amazon has made, probably in the entire world.

There appears to be, at least, two depots in every medium to large area.

It’s killed off so many who couldn’t, or wouldn’t, go with the flow, preferring, I hear, the idea that there’s no need to change the way they do business.

As far as staff is concerned, there seems to be lots & lots who want to do the delivering?

Paying the dues might be as much about providing services and employment that people want, rather than shoving money the way of HS2!

Good luck to him, hope there’s a few more, like him, on the next train!

Well, I guess it came at the price of a fair few shops in town and city centres. But that’s the nature of progress.

It’s the tax thing and the amount of money any single person thinks is fine to keep hold of for themselves which is under scrutiny.

@TedC, Bloody hell Ted, lm surprised at you !
And what’s HS2 got to do wiv it anyway !!
Don’t forget that for every one person employed by Bezos on minimum
wages, there were four people fired from above minimum wage plus
benefits jobs on the high street?
And you call this progress ! :-1::-1:

That’s where your tax goes!

There have always been… the haves and the have nots.
Unless something radical is done and all the money in the world is seized and then redistributed… nothing will change and the beat goes on…
