It’s raining cats and dogs out there and there’s that lovely earthy smell.
I love it.
I also love bacon, Creosote.Fresh sawn wood. And Swarfega and Brut… preferably on a man. (Not creosote)
What smell do you love or what smell makes you go all nostalgic.
The sea - particularly that low tide seaweed smell. It evokes happy memories of childhood rockpooling. I still enjoy a beachcomb and dip into a rockpool when the opportunity arises. 
Newly cut grass, freshly baked bread, washing that has dried outside, newly ironed clothes …
As Margaret, my favorites. And freshly brewed coffee, and clean air after a rain.
Yes definitely the sea for me too.
We live as far from the sea as you can get here in the midlands - our nearest beach would be Weston Super Mare, but my ideal is Dorset/ Devon/Cornwall.
The smell takes my breath away.
Cornwall is terrific, the coastal footpath and all those coves!
And smugglers and booty.
And piskies, not to mention pasties! 
Looks like one of the favourite smells is salt sea air and seaweed and ‘after the rain’.
Nature’s smells.
Pasties are for munching …yummy.
Quite! The prospect of smelling a smuggler’s booty doesn’t appeal to me at all! 
I wouldn’t want to munch him either

I am with you on some of those, creosote, coal tar soap, moth balls are smells I am very fond of. Alas the first two are now denied to me.
There are some unkind children that complain about the smell of moth balls as the seasons change.

Of course there were also the very pleasant combustible type of smells. Roasting chestnuts, fireworks in the garden and cap guns etc
I had a Woolworths Remington just like that, it was really nicely made. Wouldn’t want to brandish it in public in 2026!
Like most I love the smell of the sea, fresh cut grass, the air after a rainfall I also love perfume which after 20 years of not being able to wear it due to allergies, I now wear every day, favourite being Paloma Picasso
