Good morning all on another cold winters day. Only getting up into the mid to high 20s today but at least the wind has gone.
I am steeling myself for a visit to my dentist, the only certainty is that the visit will involve the dentist prodding about in my mouth then he will give me a clean and fluoride treatment and will charge me $150.
This morning was my seniors’ meeting so I have been writing up the minutes, one of my regular cake and coffee morning friends was missing from the meeting which was a bit of a worry, definitely can’t afford to lose any more friends
Anyway can’t stop I have to wander down to the dentist (fortunately in my street) where I will be in fear until I can escape. Hopefully no filling will be found to be needed.
Have a thoughtful Thursday, the weekend creeps ever closer.
Late addition - just back from the dentist, indeed a filling is required - piece had chipped off an old NHS mercury amalgam filing and decay set in in the gap. Not big filling though and only one.
As I said to the dentist they haven’t done badly, those fillings must 60 years old, I don’t think he is a fan though, he reckons because they expand and contract with temperature changes they can crack a tooth.
Overcast and windy here, a hopefully stress free day today, yesterday was spent hanging on the phone waiting ages for various Government Agencies to pick up.
Dentistry is not an issue for me, lost all my teeth in my early teens birthing a calf with ropes, got it out, cow kicked me, broke a lot of teeth, infection spread and they removed them all.
This last set of dentures have lasted me 20 years and will see me out.
Saved me a fortune in dental fees.
Your mouth changes shape over the years, your gums shrink, and I reline the dentures myself when needed.
Grey and cloudy today. Can’t really say a great deal. Last minute shopping for a few things, washing machine on the go. Everything all over the place. Worst of all - not had my coffee yet.
Today I’ll be visiting Amazon and ordering a battery for the new/vintage SLR film camera and a spare set of AA’s
for my real wax flickering LED bedside candles…
Morning all – wet and windy this morning (the weather not me!) but we are promised sunshine later.
Beast left a little gift again this morning – have to say I am beginning to find it a bit difficult having to get down on my knees to clean up, actually getting down isn’t too much of a problem, it is getting back up!
Usual Thursday coffee get together with the girls this morning, then grocery shopping
wife and I are off today to the local pub for a carvery. Cost expensive ?? not really at only £6 per head. it is one of their "special price "days so booked to make sure we get a table.
Had a very nice day at the local cinema yesterday and Tom Cruise was brilliant (as usual) in his latest and last ‘Mission Impossible, The Final Reckoning’ I forgot just how good watching films on the big screen was, and it wouldn’t have gone anywhere on the TV after the big sound and big screen of the cinema. I’ve just recovered from the ringing in my ears and the crick in my neck, but it was worth the 7 quid, and I’m tempted to go watch it again…
It might have a different ending the next time I watch it…
Today’s walk/Jog went well with quite a few fast reps and a good time, although I was getting a bit worried when it started to rain about a mile from home. I was only dressed in tee shirt and shorts. Fortunately it didn’t amount to much and I arrived home nice 'n dry…
It’s still a bit blustery and humid, but good conditions for a bit of gardening later.
I didn’t consider the expansion and contraction of amalgam fillings @Bruce I’ve got a mouth full of them and some cracked teeth as well…
What a brilliant presentation @mart it certainly put a smile on my face this morning…
Are you wild water swimmers @Tracyhello and @CarlyB or do you visit sports centre pools.
We are going on holiday to Llandudno in a couple of weeks and they’ve got a brilliant pool there. We swam in it before, but I don’t know if my pacemaker/defibrillator will take to swimming these days. Anyway, I’m taking my swimming costume (budgie smugglers)
and give it a go…
That made me wince @swimfeeders having your teeth knocked out by a kicking cow…Ouch!
They always look quite amenable and friendly to me Swim…
One curious lady I encountered on a walk…
Good afternoon everyone, getting hotter and hotter here, heading for 40C maybe tomorrow!
I was out before 8 o’clock while it was still cool, went into town to get my renewed driver’s license and then some shopping with mum. I was back home at 10 o’clock, it was already 30C,thank goodness for car air-conditioning!
Beautiful flowers @OldGreyFox and a gorgeous dog @Chilliboot!
I’ve never seen any of the Mission Impossible films, they’re not really my scene, but because of this enormous popularity I’ve been thinking about trying to watch them out of curiosity , I suppose I should start from the first.
It’s so ironic, we wait all year for Summer, dreaming about spending time outside, soaking up the warm sunshine, and then it suddenly arrives upon us with such extreme temperatures that we have to stay in all day, apart from the mornings!
I don’t want cold weather of course, just a maximum of 27C would do me!
It’s a race against time at the supermarket I usually go to, everyone tries to get there early to grab the parking spaces in the shade! I made it, this morning!
I wish I could send you all some of this heat, to give us a breather.
