Good morning one and all on this hot weekend - another day in the mid 30s for me with a minimum of 21° overnight so hardly any chance to cool off
My back is improving but like @OldGreyFox with his knee I am confining myself to barracks in order to give it a chance to improve.
In my attempt to fill the morning took some photos for a camcorder show and tell.
Rang all my kids this morning to pass the time. Had to remind the youngest that I was visiting him in Darwin in May - he had forgotten!
Just pottering about for me today, rather belatedly decided to wash my cardigan but decided that hand washing might be foolish so threw it in the machine with my dirty washing and a towel added to make a worthwhile load, with the current heatwave it should all dry in an hour or so.
Will probably watch some Netflix this arvo as part of my taking it easy scheme.
Hi
Good morning all.
The sun is shining outside and I am now on a proper ward in the hospital.
I am being pumped with drugs to get the fluid out of my lungs.
Looking forward to breakfast.
Have a good day all
Good morning forumers, I’m trying to get back to my normal routine, a bit difficult having moved to an apartment in town, but I’m slowly getting sorted. We’ll be back at our country house as soon as Summer arrives. Much better off there when temperatures start soaring to 30s!
Many advantages living in town, all shops and services in walking distance, or just a few minutes drive.
Sorry to hear your back’s giving you trouble @Bruce, take it easy for a while so you’ll be fit for your trip.
Sorry to hear you’re in hospital @swimfeeders, wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery.
I won’t venture out yet, still cloudy and drizzly, getting colder too.
Maybe later, to take stuff to the dry-cleaner’s, I’ll be able to walk there, if it isn’t raining.
I woke up this morning, Oh Lawdy Mamma, about 03-00 and just couldn’t get back to sleep so I eventually got out of bed about 04-20 and just sat in my comfy chair drinking tea and watching the sun come up
Did last night’s washing up and a bit of pottering
Someone’s visiting later this morning to collect a MIG Welder for a local Men’s Shed
Not sure what I’ll do after that
Continue to take it easy Bruce - back pain is no joke!
Hope you are feeling better soon swimfeeders
Fed the beast early – before I had my own breakfast (how is that for dedication). Despite the sun shining she refused to leave the house so I will have to go back in later
As today is my birthday I am abandoning my diet for the day, full English breakfast and will be spoiling myself tonight – pizza for dinner, a glass or 3 of wine and overdose on chocolate. Had a lovely surprise when my brother’s granddaughter sent me a video of Mum wishing me a happy birthday!
I sometimes have the same problem, the brain just won’t stop working. The worst for me is when go to bed at say 11pm, fall asleep then wake up thinking I have slept for hours but when I look at the clock it is 12:10. Hate it!
Thank you all, It is actually going well - this evening I think it has vastly improved. I am hoping tomorrow will be good.
Yippee
I am getting a pay rise on Monday 17 March from the Dept of health and welfare (DHW)
how much you ask? well it is the grand sum of 25p a week. The generosity is outstanding
Happy Saturday to all… We are enjoying “false spring” with unseasonably warm weather… Sat in the porch swing and watched the sunrise with my coffee while my Golden’s gave our yard a thorough perimeter check. Love the day.
Swimmy, we all wish you a fast recovery from your latest setback. As for myself, I want to give you the biggest support hug I can, but don’t want to intrude on your hoses, feeds, etc, so I’ve decided instead of an online outside hug, I’ll start deep inside and work my way out of your heart insides.
Who knows, it may work better than drugs! Hope you are at least smiling at this nonsense!
Had my letter today with my state pension increase. Oh dear: it just about covers the increases in my monthly direct debits. Mind, that doesn’t include future increase in gas and leccy, so I still lose out.
Tiddy Oggie Day. Wales v England Date: Saturday 15th March 2025 Venue:Principality Stadium, Cardiff Kick-off:* 4:45pm Referee: Nic Berry (Australia) TV Coverage: Live on BBC
Oggie oggie oggie. And “Brains” Pies
A bit late but better late than never…
Went for an x-ray on the knee yesterday but when I drove the four miles to the hospital, found somewhere to park walked almost a mile down the corridors, receptionist at the x-ray department said no!.. What? Apparently I was on her system but it had not been authorised…“Ring the surgery” she said. So I lurked in the corridor outside and called the surgery…“Oh! terribly sorry” she said, “The doctor did it wrong, but I’ve put it right now and our computer has been talking to their computer and sorted it out”…
So I took my place behind a long queue and again presented myself to the receptionist…
“Sorry no” she said (different receptionist) “Just ring your surgery” she said…
Bugger that, I’m off home and left the building…furious…
(so I set the dogs on them) well!..Mrs Fox anyway, she rang the surgery and and fixed it for me (a regular Jimmy S) for tomorrow…So I went this morning after Tesco and breakfast…
Mission completed…and nobody died!..
Spotted this large crane across the road from the hospital and people were jumping out of a basket…
I think it was a charity event and they were actually abseiling…Nutters!
At least they were just across the road from the hospital in case of any mishaps…
@Bruce knees making good progress thanks, hope your back is doing the same. I think this whole episode was caused by the hospital, but more on that later…
Awwwwww @swimfeeders so sorry to hear that you are once again enjoying the hospitality of the NHS…I hope they can get you sorted and sent home ASAP…
Thinking about you mate…
Unlucky @Rose2 the weather here is glorious after a cold frosty start but unfortunately I’m like Bruce and confined to barracks for a while so can’t get out and enjoy it…
I’m afraid I’m also waking up in the middle of the night @zuludog with pain in my knee, I down a few painkillers and lay staring at the stars until I drop orf…
A very Happy Birthday @SheilaP as soon as Swimmy is out of hospital, my knee and Bruce’s back is better we’ll come round a give you the customary bumps…
Welcome to the ‘good morning’ thread @SuzanneB
Me next @RightNow ? @QuintESensual …oi oi oi…C’mon England…
A game for men with odd shaped balls…
Where’s @Eliza ? Wakey! Wakey!
Happy birthday @SheilaP, that was a lovely surprise from your mum!
Wow @OldGreyFox, I thought OUR health service was a mess, luckily Mrs Fox came to the rescue!
