Going deaf in one ear

for the last few months I have been progressivily going deaf in one ear, all the family have been telling me. So I decided it was about time I did something about it.and purchased an ear water syring and also some OTEX.
starting off with the warm water jet right into the ear in conjunction with OTEX nothing at first happened. After 3.4 days out came a hard bit of wax, so that was the problem. A few more goes and now my hearing has come back to the same level as the other ear.

just if someone else has ir is having the same problem,

pardon ?

Iā€™ve never had that problem but give the inside of my ears are good soaking every shower and that may have helped.

Did you buy a ā€œJumboā€ tube of OTEX?

I wonder if it could release a backlog up oneā€™s posterior as efficiently with the ear?:+1:

When some goods are marked ā€œFreeā€, particularly in newspapers, with a small asterisk attached. That means there is a additional postage charge, usually not that small. So what is deemed to be a ā€œFreebieā€, is not that at all! :rage: :rage:

Sorry wrong thread. Could it be moved please?

John, I thought you were being cryptic till I read your second post.

update

now gone deaf in one ear so a trip for a hearing test now

If the GP refers you to Specsavers, as they do nowadays, insist on seeing a hospital audiologist.

One is feeling sounds, less so hearing them, this isnā€™t new, been goin on for years, might have to seek medical advice  :icon_wink:

Yep, d00dā€™s right get them for free on the NHS. I went to a company called ā€˜Hidden Hearingā€™ and it cost me a Kings ransom. The hearing aids are very good, but I only need them for watching telly and crowded places. It used to be weddings and christenings, but now itā€™s just funeralsā€¦

Tried Specsavers and told I have to get a Drā€™s referral first. one specsaves I tried went through the press button sequence on the phone. This said press button 2 which I did. the person answering said I should have pressed button 1 for hearing. That was after a 10 minute wait for the call to be answered. I gave up

Specsavers for hearing are IMO worse than useless and cause problems getting referred onwards. Iā€™m now with the area hospital audiology and cannot fault them. Great modern BTE aids from Oticon (Sage) and unlimitted batteries. My present pair connect via Bluetooth to my home audio so Iā€™m very pleased :+1:

What happens with me is every few months, when I stick my head under the water during the morning bath, my right ear has the rumbling you would associate with the blood being pumped, the left ear is silent, what happens during the course of the day is I am sensitive to the feel of noises, i,e I will feel the sound of a passing train, before I actually hear it, might just be wax or something but, its bloody annoying whatever it is.

It could easily be a build of hardened wax which needs attention. Get yourself a bottle of Otex Bicarb and then ask your doc to syringe your ears.

These are Oticon too LongDriver but they donā€™t need batteries, they are rechargeable, you just stick them in the little charging station overnight and Bobā€™s yer uncle.
You can hear a fleas heartbeat from fifty pacesā€¦
