Might see my friends tomorrow and will report back … if that’s what they saw
I have just finished reading The Girl on the Train, quite frankly I found it hard going and quite disappointing. I won´t bother watching the film.
yes it was hard going and i got the wrong idea from the clips id seen .
Eliza next time I see you I will bring you the DVD ‘Me before you’ You will love it - it’s every bit as good as the book - also ‘Ship of brides’ another Jojo Moyes book that I couldn’t put down. I’m really into her now…
Talking of films - The last film I went to see was ‘Bridget Jones’s baby’
I loved it.
:-)Thanks Carol I will buy some tissues in ready
I watched Arthur last night. On DVD of course. The original with Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli. A really good laugh unlike the remake with Russell Brand. Must be the fourth time I’ve watched it over the years.
The remake of Ben Hur a really excellent film well worth watching and afterwards a large KFC meal lubbly jubbly.
Hi Pesta sorry but i found the Martian film one of the most boring films i have ever seen. But if you enjoyed it great everyone’s taste is different thank god.
Watched django unchained Nathan wanted to see it, can’t say it was my cup of tea, good story spoiled by all the blood and gore. He enjoyed it and my husband fell asleep
Loved The Martian, Suffragette was rubbish, they could have made it so much better, barely told the story.
The Revenant was superb, if more of guy’s flick.
I can’t wait for Inferno and Ben Hur!
We have a channel in OZ called “world Movies” and it is exactly what it says it is - it does not aim to promote aussie movies but the come along sometimes. - it runs everyday and for 24 yrs a day so we get a lot of films and repeats of course frequently which sometimes gets boring - you may watch them more than once which is nice but not over and over and over again!
still it’s all free on free tv - there has never been licenced tv in Oz ? - so down to the films
Todays films - well I often catch the tail end of films too - so watched the end of “Like water for chocolate” - what a fantastic title - sub-titled from one of the south american countries it will be on google if you want - set in the roaring 20’s perhaps and hot and spicy love scenes but stayed true to the times and customs etc - well worth a view and well filmed too. More later - the next I’ve seen a few times “The Lunch Box” set in India - interesting culturally speaking but moves a bit slow - so having watched it once and a half wouldn’t for some time next!
Just watched Mulan again really a good film.
Just finished watching Empress Ki for the third time all 51 eps.
Also Hotel del Luna.
Just started to watch The Witches Diner, the first 2 eps that is are free will have to pay for the rest will do that when the series finishes.
Ok if ya hankerin after the old days - the good old days when manners maketh the man try “The life and death of Colonel Blimp” covers characters and wars across the centuries and loves won and lost - deborah Kerr I seem to remember and what a corker she was in her youth. It’s sorta what England once was more of the good rather the bad but if you like going back in time and hanker for the old life you’ll enjoy this one. All about honour and duty and commitment and long lasting life long friends
Haven’t been to the cinema for ages - but love to watch films on DVD. Two of my all time favourites:-
The Shiralee - original version with Peter Finch.
The Sundowners - Robert Mitchum and Deborah Kerr.
dems must be ozzie ones by the sound of things?
I haven’t been to the cinema for ages, and I really do mean ages. The last time was probably in the early-1960s with my granddad, he’s not been with us for 50 years (1971). That film was “Battle of the River Plate”. The time before that was also with him and another war film, “Bridge over the River Kwai”.
Nowadays I prefer to watch films and documentaries on TV in the comfort of my own home.
Just wondering though, can anyone beat that for not having been to the cinema for a long time?
They are indeed, gumbug, both excellent films. There was a remake of The Shiralee with Bryan Brown - but it was not so good as the original
I doubt it, Baz, you should make into the Guinness Book!
I do think we have diminished ourselves not doing the cinemas - out door ones used to be very popular in Oz - and we used to have posh ones with double sets for lovers and meals would be served - and you just can’t beat the big screen - that is what hollywood was all about - sitting at home with a small tv set is not quite majestic?
With our weather?
