Fashionable attire --> Jeans

Another thread prompted my curiosity and now I’m wondering how many members wear jeans as a regular item of clothing. I have yet to find anything as comfortable as a pair of jeans for general wear around the house or traipsing around town shopping with Mrs LD.
So my question is, how many other members wear jeans and find them comfortable as an every day item of clothing?

I wear jeans pretty much all the time.

Guilty as charged…I’m never out of them (except for funerals and weddings)…and I don’t go to many of those

Good survey to take here. As we are at least in our 50s and most more experienced than that , I will follow this thread. As I am a gambling woman, I’m betting over 90% wear jeans more than any other skirt, dress, trousers, chaps, khakis, etc.

My own answer is that I wear jeans, jeggings or corduroy 75% of the time. Dressier slacks are worn when I have meetings, or special dinners, an occasional wedding or celebration.

For the ladies, the secret is in the choice of footwear to complete the outfit. A pair of heels, or wedges, or strappy sandals changed the look entirely. Boots also change the look. And the jewelry…ah, that catches the eye for the overall look.

Now, LD, aren’t you glad you asked this very simple question of us?

I own 2 pairs of jeans, one for general duties - gardening and such like and one for wearing whilst out shopping, etc in the colder months. I wear trackie bottoms for indoors. I also own 2 pairs of slacks for more formal wear and 2 pairs of chinos for less formal outings in the summer.

I wear them more in the winter, for warmth. They are comfy, with a nice jumper, but I suppose its lucky us ladies have the choice.

Yes we have choice. Years ago I used to wear jeans often. Now I prefer leggings with tunics. It’s far more comfortable, far more versatile and suites me better. In summer long skirts and shorter leggings.

what happened to ladies in frocks

Maybe they became fed up with all the breezes constantly blowing up them

Yes I wear jeans almost all the time. I even have some ‘best’ jeans that were quite expensive.
I only wear dresses at parties and when on holiday at Warner’s.

I do love to get glammed up & put a dress on - it’s a novelty.

Just as footnote to add: I never could have imagined my grandma wearing jeans and yet here we are all grandparents or old enough to be.

How times have changed eh?

Next time you buy a new pair, try some with 2% elastane and you’ll be surprised at how much ‘give’ they have built into them :+1:

I wonder if I could high jack your thread a little bit, LD, and ask where people buy their jeans. I have had terrible trouble lately getting them in my size. I always got my jeans from M&S but they don’t stock them in my size any more. I ended up tracking a pair down at Tesco, but even they only had one pair of the right size on the rack. Atually, they don’t look any different to M&S jeans, and they were £20 cheaper. The zip sometimes fails on cheap jeans though.

I’m the wrong one to ask due to my lofty height and long inside leg length. Most of my jeans are either made for me or purchased across the pond via mail order. I have the same problem with my feet …14/15 shoes are a tad difficult to find off the shelf

I was buying mine from Evans, but Evans has closed, so where I’ll buy them now I have no idea, probably Tesco when I need new, as they have a good size range for bigger people. Might try Asda & Sainsburys too. Have yet to find a ladies clothing shop that stock my size.

I never thought of Asda. Thanks, Tiffany.
