So what’s new, it’s always been a two party thing that goes way back to when it was Tories v Whigs (Liberals).
Then Labour came along and nudged out the Liberal party.

We don’t need a third party that laughingly calls itself ‘Reform’ which is likely to be anything but reform if the worst happens, and they become our next government.

What we need is a total change of direction, and a third party made up entirely of taxi drivers.
I’m convinced they would make great politicians.

I think a lot of voters are simply bulling up Reform out of desperation and dissollusionment with the two main parties …I used to like them myself, but without Reform where does that leave the voters now … the political landscape is pretty barren.

What makes people think that Deform aren’t just the tories under a different name? Because that’s all they are - the majority of their gains were from tories (and some from labour). They just happen to be the worst of the tories …under a new name.

But I agree about the ‘two party’ system - we need proper electoral reform, and we need laws in place like the one recently coming in to Wales where politicians should be IMPRISONED if they mislead or lie. So many of them would be behind bars now, such as Tony Blair, Starmer, Sunak, Boris, and Farage. These people are a scourge on humanity and the planet. I hope they all get struck by lightening.

Of course they are, one would have to be a mug to think otherwise but, the policies are getting more relevant maybe.

What policies have they got apart from anti-immigration. They are making fools of uneducated, small-minded folk who keep forgetting who their real enemies are - precisely people like Farage and his already-rich chums:

Azz, I never set foot on anyone else’s territory, I have been asked a lot of to accept change on what I assume to be my territory, its hard accepting one way traffic, its obvious some indigenous folks benefit from this situation but c’est la vie.

As the guy in the video says Spitty, it wasn’t you - but those controlling you (i.e your real enemies: the ruling class and their enablers - like labour, the tories, and deform).

As the guy says - the people to blame, the people who are actually exploiting you, your family, your children, and your loved ones, are the ones who have stolen and seized all of the land and money from your ancestors and continue stealing it from you and your children today.

I despair if even something as clear and simple as that can’t be understood by even the most simple-minded of folk - it really does drive me to despair

The only thing that gives me hope really, are the young people and pockets of people who have resisted and haven’t allowed themselves to become brainwashed/braindead. I hope you’re one of them Spitty

But its the move to PR that will take away the two party system. And with that, hopefully fairly soon, will come consensus, working together and multi-party coalitions. Rather than the two party approach of point scoring. With that can come longer term planning and even strategies that multiple parties sign up to.
The wrong way is to vote in a protest party (and Reform is nothing more than a protest) in the hope that they will be better or different. Even though nothing else has changed. That won’t enable strategies, or planning or anything other than radical, poorly thought through and damaging policies.

I’d agree with you entirely, were it not for the fact that the main ping pong parties have no interest, yet alone intention of moving towards that. They feel safe in their monopoly of take-it-in-turns government.

To break the mould, what other realistic option does a sizeable chunk of the electorate have other than to cast a protest vote, especially when those who are trying to entice it are telling a lovely reparational story which the main parties are pooh-poohing as unimportant when, in reality, they’re not quite as negligible as they’d like to make out?

There is always Count Binface with his £1.99 bus fares and 99p Flakes, I’d vote for that over anything Pauline Hanson or Nigel Farage have to offer.

Of course you have identified the core problem. There’s hope and frustration here. The hope is that the growth of smaller parties - Greens being a good example - gain enough seats to force this through. The frustration, for me, is that anyone who votes and thinks centre or left of centre should support PR. In the majority the folk in the UK want policies that fall into this area (good single, public health service; good social care; good welfare but encouragement to work; good police and security; progressive and fair tax system; reduction in wealth inequality; good but not silly work protection). So PR is most likely to deliver all that even with a coalition government of a few parties. So a Labour MP should support this goal.
