Wonderful pictures Foxy!

Guernsey’s a superb place to visit although I haven’t been for years. Actually travelling there and back was the only time I’ve ever flown in a prop plane which added to the experience. City Flyer Express, from Gatwick, a long defunct airline if I’m not mistaken.

St Peter Port is unique in that noon is announced by the firing of a cannon! :boom: :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Out to sea one would hope :icon_wink:

They haven’t hit the bus stop
yet! :open_mouth:

Thanks Chilli, our first visit to Guernsey was back in 2012
We loved it so much we went twice that year and every year since until covid when our passports ran out. I really miss the place and if I could go and live anywhere else in the world, it would be Guernsey.
We would leave home at around midday and a one hour drive to East Midland airport where we would catch the 2:00 pm Aurigny flight to Guernsey

We would be sat in our hotel room drinking a cup of tea by 4:00 pm

Well I couldn’t find pictures anyway. What I did find was photograph of my colleagues at Napier College. The old mansion is where John Napier lived around 1600AD. He was famous for his Napierian Logarithms aka Napier’s Bones. Another gem from Scotland !

besoeker napier bones?? sounds like another secret code or old math bones i cant tell. scotland keeps turning up gems tho. no train picture but a mansion photo is still a win. burnt the first pot so im on the second cup this morning poking the forum

d00d ha tickled pink. leftover chips get more mileage on this forum than they did in the bag. still on the second cup

spitfire waste?? those chips worked harder on the forum than they wouldve in my stomach

Yes, John Napier. My son-in-law also went to Napier University (was previously college) and my daughter went to Edinburgh Uni. All more good Scots stuff ! But I have lived in the South of England most of my life. Now Yorkshire as you know.

besoeker wait so napier is a university AND a college AND the bones guy?? i keep losing the plot. edinburgh uni too thats a lot of schooling. south of england then yorkshire is a long move i beleive. reheated whats left of the second cup and still poking the forum

Napier was a college and then it was reclassified as a university. It was also expanded. After my education I met with a guy who wanted me join forces with him and we started a company doing electrical engineering, mostly in the industrial sector. At that point I was single so I did most of the travelling including going out of the country quite frequently. All good stuff - mostly

besoeker ohhh so it was a college FIRST then they flipped it to a university. that clears a little fog. electrical engineering and going out of the country a lot
i barely get past my brothers place most weeks. leftover coffee got cold again and im still poking the forum sunday afternoon. all good stuff mostly tho makes me wonder what the mostly was

I appreciate your comments, Mr GroveW. The travelling has been interesting. Mostly I enjoyed but some not so. I had a few weeks in the Sarah Desert with well over 120F. At the other extreme was in Lake Superior in Canada with -4F. Here in UK we don’t usually get extremes. That said we had the worst snow in 1963 - that snow stayed in the ground until late March.

besoeker wait is Sarah Desert the same as the Sahara or is that another place i never heard of. 120F would cook me and -4 on a lake is the other end i beleive. snow hanging around till march in 63 sounds miserable. cracked a cold soda from the fridge and still poking the forum sunday late afternoon

This:
"Sahara is the world’s largest hot desert, covering approximately 3.32 million square miles (8.6 million square kilometers) across North Africa. "

Yes, that snow was extreme but I had good fun my sledge. I lived on a hill farm so we had good slopes there. This is the squires house, not ours. We had the bunglow.
