I like doing things on my own like shopping ,theatre, walks .
But i also go out with my son when he visits we go on walks , And ive booked a couple of Short breaks which he will be taking me along with his partner .
I use to go on Coach Holidays , but I would always end up with a dump of a room being solo .
Ive booked a 4 bedroom Property , and a Barn conversion so was able to ask family to stay too .
It depends what I’m doing, I prefer fishing on my own, the chance to be quiet, enjoy nature and declutter my head all at the same time, works for me.
Conversely I love being at football be it in the seats or on the terrace, I’ll go where the noisy support is usually with a drummer, love the banter the chanting and singing!
I’m a sociable person mostly but I also enjoy my own company.
In fact I need that sometimes to re-charge.
I’d perfectly happily eat out, visit galleries, sight see, join classes and holiday on my own…
When I got divorced when the kids were small, I had to learn to be fairly independent until I found the present incumbent!
So while I prefer company for most things I don’t let it stop me if I can’t find anyone to do it with me.
So if there’s a film I want to see, and exhibition, an event, I ask family and friends if they fancy it, usually someone does, but if there’s no takers, I do it on my own
I’ll go out for coffee or lunch on my own but I’ve never done an evening dinner in a restaurant, I don’t think I’d like that?
I hate doing crafts in groups! That’s definitely a solo for me, although I’ll go on my own to classes and workshops if it’s something I want to learn
I’ve been on holiday with just the children when they were tots but not just me on my own. Not sure about that.
Cooking OK on my own but I love cooking with someone else, reading is pretty solitary for most people? I prefer to watch tv shows with someone else but still enjoy them solo
Walking is a tricky one, on the beach and in the woods I enjoy on my own but also sometimes find it a bit lonely. But I’m not a group joiner and couldn’t take those hiking groups with the U3A and Ramblers etc
Swimming I’m OK on my own but it’s much more fun with swimming buddies around
I suppose I’m one who prefers company, really, but can still enjoy doing things on my own if I haven’t got any
Apart from the occasional visits/meals with My Clan…I do everything by Myself…I find younger Folk think They know everything, and older Folk moan about everything…oops. …so…
I’ll try to apply myself
And teach my heart how to sing
I’ll go my way by myself like a bird on the wing
I’ll face the unknown
I’ll build a world of my own
No one knows better than I myself
I’m by myself alone.
