Dog Mutilations

I would be surprised if the dog was debarked Pixie, as i believe it to be illegal in this country.
I wonder if the little dog barks and cries because it is left alone, or locked outside maybe? That could explain why he was quiet when you saw him if he was with someone and had company?

Marcus Rashford’s dog
A cane corso ( Italian mastiff ) basically a large pit bull type dog .
This came from Romanian or somewhere it should be forbidden that a mutilated dog be allowed in the country .

Oi! I’m not Ted!
You’re right, though. Surely vets in this country wouldn’t do that sort of thing…
would they?

Mups, this dog barks continuously when he is with his people. He’s a little crossbreed maltese terrier type and always jumping around freaking out and barking. Tonight when I saw him he was jumpy and spooked, looking all around himself with the same fearfulness, but not a sound. Same people with him. I dunno, it was just a bit weird to see him like that, but silent. Maybe he’s been trained? :woman_shrugging:

I think the football shirt gives away the intelligence of the owner.

Teazle got Pyometra so had to be operated on to save her life. but mutilation is totally wrong unless for health reasons

Oops, so sorry JBR.
Am i forgiven?

Different kettle of fish altogether.
That would have been to save her life, not just for an owners own convenience.

oh we are now onto fish? interesting jump from dogs to fish unless you are talking about dogfish.
I seem to remember working dogs had their tails docked so they didn’t get damaged when working. The idea was that if they wagged them to often against something hard it could be far worse

A friend of mine had about 18 workers Cockers and Labs and i remember her telling me a few years back, that working Spaniels could now only be docked by Vets if they were provided with proof that they were legitimate workers and not purely pet dogs.
Then they had a certificate to show it was all legit.

The reason is more to do with these workers getting their tails caught up in brambles when searching for the shot carcases, and nothing to do with wagging their tails and banging them, to my knowledge.

Personally, i would rather they stopped this killing of birds for fun in the first place.

Pyometra has nothing to do with mutilation ? ???

Yes Mups It’s easier to keep them clean nothing good for the dog .My collie is always getting brambles etc in his tail but you don’t see docked tailed collies .
It cruelty . Pit bulls and other dogs used for fighting had their ears and tails ( supposedly ) had their ears and tails docked so their opponents couldn’t grab them .
Hoerse are still docked sometimes in Spain and the cruelty of a horses tail cut short in a land where they are tormented by flies is disgusting .

Good grief Muddy, i thought tail docking in horses had been outlawed years ago.

I don’t think they actually cut the bone of the dock but they cut the hair up to it .
Also foals have their tails shaved this is to to make them thicker !
Fortunately most prefer a long tail and mane rather than the shorter .

It was banned in the U.K. as late as 2006

I’ll give it some serious consideration.

As a kid, I remember still seeing horses with their tails docked, but that was a long time ago now! :frowning:

Mups people still do horrible things to horses.
Some have their teeth removed to accommodate the bit and some sporting mares have the caslicks op
( seeing up the vulva ) so they don’t suck in air .
Ok these are for a purpose but it’s not exactly kind.

Poor Teazle - that can be nasty!
