In all seriousness, though, I’m afraid that we have as many brain-dead specimens in this country as anywhere else.
What is this ‘debarking’ thing anyway? What sort of operation do they actually do?

And what about the old Dobies, Muddy? They used to be done too, didn’t they.
I hardly ever see Dobies nowadays, don’t think I’ve seen one for years.
It’s a shame Dobermans look lovely with a tail and ears they are elegant dogs made to look like brutes by cruel men.
I love dobermans they are such clever loyal dogs .
I saw one in a dogs home last month. ( overseas) it was huge and had clipped ears and no tail I couldn’t believe someone would abandon such a magnificent dog . But people do stupid things they get big dogs and lock it in a flat while they go out to work where the poor animal drives the neighbours insane with it’s sad lonely barking and howling . Really I don’t like people
I had a lovely Doberman over 40 years ago, I was given it as an adult, its tail was docked but not its ears.
Do you still see many about where you are, Bruce?
Come to think of it, no. There are a few but not many
They should stop all importations of dogs from Europe . The Eastern Europeans are cruel beggars too The EU have made it horrendously difficult to enter with a pet dog into Europe but we allow them to travel in easily why are we so weak ? We should make it as difficult as they do or more so . They breed these poor animals treat them like commodities and fools here buy them .
Arrgh. It makes me sick to my stomach any time I see an article about cropping and/or docking.
It’s amazing how many people still think it’s better for the dog.
I have just seen this too late to add my two cents worth.
We should make it impossible to bring a dog into the U.K. that is mutilated and without the veterinary certifications imposed on us by the EU
They cut the poor creature’s vocal chords, JBR, which means it can not bark at all - not even to summon help if it (or it’s thoughtless owner) is in trouble.
In america they de-claw cats to prevent damage to furniture - presumably because the owners are too lazy to provide/train them to use a scratching post. Which leaves the cat unable to defend itself.
Those sort of people should never be allowed anywhere near an animal - and the Vets who do these vile operations should be struck off - permanently!
Yes, this is what I said earlier Muddy.
Another big problem is, there seem to be many ‘bent’ vets abroad, who will happily forge paper work for the puppy farmers and criminals at right price.
I remember a long time ago reading about this. They actually had proof of some foreign vets admitting they can earn far more money forging passports, vacc certificates and so on, than they can doing their normal routine veterinary work!!
It is because of disgusting vets like this that 4,5,6 week old litters are getting into this country from foreign puppy farms.
They are saying they have been Rabies vaccinated too, but that’s a lie, so at some stage in the future I won’t be surprised if this country has Rabies again.
Years ago when I had a litter of GSD pups, a friend of a friend in Holland wanted one.
I refused to box a young pup up for a long journey by himself, and told them they would have to come and fetch him personally, or he wouldn’t be going.
They were decent folks, and came over to fetch him themself.
This pup had to stay behind longer than the others because he had to have a Rabies jab before he could go, and they won’t do that until a pup is 12 weeks old.
This is how I know that the poor half-weaned youngsters coming in by the van load are NOT jabbed, I don’t care a jot what the crooked vets say on paper.
Another way these under age youngsters are getting through is because the twits who are supposed to check them this end, haven’t a clue of the difference between a 5 week old and a 12 week old!
Here you go, JBR.
Sorry to go slightly off topic but, we live in a world where it’s not unusual for Humans to cut off bits, shortly after birth, or stick pins & hooks through Human ears. mouths & noses.
I saw one recently, who had had his tongue split up the middle!
It would help if we stopped all that from happening to Humans &, maybe, that would wake us up to the cruel stupidity of doing similar to animals.
That is usually through choice animals have no such choice .
It all comes back to MONEY again, Ted.
While people are stupid enough to pay good money, there will always been someone happy to offer these services.
Yes. Precisely.
They trust us to care for them and include them in family life, and this is how some half-wits repay that trust.
I agree with that, Mups, and suggest that anyone submitting an animal, to have half his tail removed ,should agree to have his own done at the same time!
That’s terrible. What disgusting things some people do.
I thought that cutting cats’ claws and docking tails was bad, but cutting out their vocal cords is absolutely evil.
Its funny this should be mentioned, as there is a little yappy dog who lives round my way. Romanian rescue, absolutely terrified of his own shadow - you can hear him a mile away. I saw him half an hour ago, still spooked like all heck but not a sound from him. I’m not saying anything at all, apart from I did wonder why he wasn’t saying much…
Yes Ted, but once again its about money.
The owners couldnt put their animals through these barbaric practices if it weren’t for the disgraceful, money grabbing, unethical Vets who care more about filling their tills than the welfare of animals.
