Glad to hear your son’s good news, MickB. One day at a time…
Not likely…

Sense of humour failure, Pats?
No…advising anyone to drink when on ‘lots of medication’ just isn’t funny.
It can be if you take life a little less seriously, forum is for fun too not just facts and warnings.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your son Mick, I hope he makes a complete and full one.
I don’t see this as a ‘fun’ thread do you Julie?
Thanks for the good wishes everyone, the only permanent result of this horrible incident is that he has lost the hearing in one ear. The blow that he received damaged the cochlea so that the fluid inside it drained off. Apparently the body doesn’t replace this fluid, so he is likely to have permanent hearing loss. It could have been so much worse though.
And that MickB is what you have to be thankful for.
Best wishes.
Well if we cant laugh sometimes we would cry Pats I am surprised you don’t think like that too, most in caring professions have a robust sense of humour about what they encounter they would be very damaged by some of it if they didn’t.
Try reading my profile Julie.
I have not sure what I am supposed to see though.
They call it Gallows Humour Julie… The general public would be shocked if they could hear what Doctors, Nurses and other staff say to one another and the jokes they make. It has a name because using it helps medical people to deflect some of the emotionality of dealing with the things they have to deal with and seeing the things they see. It’s a form of detachment and protection. Emergency rooms are the most intense… so gallows Humour is everywhere. Not meant for the ears of patients and families for sure. The would not understand it for what it is and for the purpose it serves.
Try removing those blinkers Julie…you’ll see clear enough then.
I know what it is LOL I was just surprised pats didn’t seem to have it, ever.
What is that supposed to mean ? I saw you are a nurse I saw you say you have a wicked sense of humour I see no sign of it on the forum.
I’m pleased he has made a good recovery Mick, though I’m sorry to hear about his potential loss of hearing. Makes me angry that their are scum bags out there that would do such a thing. Violent crime is the worst.
Maybe that’s because I don’t post on the trivia threads…
I had better just go and check forum rules to see if it says that one must trivialise on serious subjects…BRB.
Pats, just read your profile, music dancing having a laugh just up my street. Not tried the Zumba but I bet it’s fun if you’ve got the energy.
Hi Gabi…
I love Zumba great fun way to exercise and energise…give it a go.
