Do You Do The Ironing....Well?

I’m sure this has been done before, but, do you do the ironing?

If so, are you good at it?

I just did my full wash (coloureds) and, I have to say, that I always get it wrong & make a mess of most parts.

My late Mrs used to grab the iron, out of my hands, and re do everything I’d touched !

Since she’s been gone, I’ve taken to just ironing the bits that are on show, like collars & cuffs.

There must be a training scheme I could go on?

Or is there something on the web?

Don’t say “Why don’t you take to the local ironing shop?” as I was brought up in Yorkshire & we don’t waste money that way!

Yep I used to do my ironing when I was single. Had no choice no one else to do it.
Was quite good at shirts and trousers. :+1:

Turn the volume down as its naff music, but there are many Youtube videos out there showing you how to iron things. Even put in specifics like “How to iron a shirt” would bring up some helpful things.

I never iron anything now, no need as most clothing goes in the tumble dryer, tee shirts, jeans & tops, if taken out straight away none need ironing. I haven’t got any clothing that needs ironing & as I live in jeans & tees that suits me I hated ironing anyway.

No I avoid ironing like the plague
Doesn’t mean I can’t do it .life is too short ( and getting shorter ) to waste time ironing .

That’s exactly how I used to iron my shirts :+1:

Hey, that was good!

Thanks

Apologies, but, IMO:

Far too much faffing around with the shirt and T-shirt - I can do them perfectly in half the time.

Everything about the trousers is wrong because she’s ironing them on the outside, which will make them shiny.

5/10

I do ironing once a week, and quite enjoy it. I must have a neat crease down my long sleeved shirts, and no wrinkles. On the plus side, it is a mundane task that lets me ponder little bits of thoughts. It’s better than yoga, more productive.

Yes, I know. I need to get a life. :grinning:

I didn’t mind ironing - had to when V was back in England visiting her parents and I was on my lonesome in Italy  However, she wouldn’t let me near an iron when she was back because she didn’t like the way I ironed :man_shrugging:

Isn’t it true that, if you do it badly, someone will grab the iron, out of your hands, and do the lot…?

We don’t - there isn’t the need to these days. But when my kids were school age I had to iron their clothes and mine. It was a Sunday chore - 20 shirts. Not my favourite pastime.

Yes, but I did a very good job with the steam iron - not a wrinkle in sight I tell you. I think it has something to do with the fact I’m a left-handed and she’s right-handed making it look strange to her.

I find ironing quite relaxing.

In Winter I iron in doors with a stck of DVDs to hand.
In Summer I take the ironing board into the garden and iron as I take things from the line.

Would not be seen in clothes that were not properly ironed.

I’ll leave the key under the door mat ST!

I hate ironing, and do very little of it. I don’t in the least mind having wrinkles and crinkles in my clothes, that way it matches my face, (snice to be well co-ordinated).

Since the wife fell down a month ago, and fractured her right shoulder, her main hand, I have been introduced to the joys of ironing for the first time in many years. Mmm, can’t say it’s in any way relaxing, particularly doing them pesky trousers and fiddly ladies whatnots. I’m not really that religious, but I’m praying to the God of Ironing for salvation!

If I adopted that attitude, my only option would be to become a naturist. If I am going to exhibit wrinkles, far better it be the ones in my clothes.

I wear cargo pants, T-shirt, a jumper, and a warm top in winter. None of it needs to be ironed. Even if it did the dog wouldn’t notice anyway…
