I almost never curse online. I don’t curse at other people.
But I do curse a lot in my daily writing (to myself, not at myself). I find that some words convey just the meaning I’m trying to convey, and in a safe space, I can find a way to express what I want.
I swear like a trooper at Alexa sometimes, it can be very frustrating when you request a song or piece of music that is dear to you and end up getting something like Britney Spears
Haha. I’ve been sitting here for the last minute watching you edit your post. I was trying to figure out what some of the asterisks meant. As you edited more, the words became clearer. It was like fill-in-the-blank with the wrong number of spaces for a while there.
Yes I swear in daily life. I shout eff off whenever ny neighbours open or slam their front doors, either side, and type up profanities in my creative writing.
Fifers are known for prodigious swearing. A little tale. My pal and I were students at the time. We were walking home to out digs when a minister was catching the bus but he was just not quick enough and caught the platform while he was still being towed by the road. Big Al thought it was hilarious and could not believe that the minister wasn’t swearing profusely. The difference for me is that I just wouldn’t have either I or the minister swearing.
I use the s word a lot & sometimes the f word.
Daughter & I bought an auction lot & one of the bears from the auction, they say, is called Paul, well the company never made a Paul bear, so, we have named it “Who the f*** is Paul?”. Interesting to see, when we get them, still waiting, which one he actually will be…
No. Swear words rarely come readily to my mind or my lips.
It’s not something I’ve ever got into the habit of.
I rarely heard anyone swear when I was growing up and when I left home and went away to work, I rarely heard anyone I socialised or worked with use swear words either.
To be honest, I hear more swearing on TV programmes than I ever have amongst my family, friends and acquaintances.
I know that probably makes me sound very prissy but I’m not. I grew up in a rough working-class environment - my Dad was born in a workhouse and did various jobs of manual labour throughout his life, in addition to a spell in the Navy. None of my family ever heard him swear - I’ve never heard my brothers swear either - maybe they do when they’re among other men but my Dad never did.
My Mum’s parents came from families of Coal Miners on one side and Farmers on the other - but cursing and swearing wasn’t part of her vocabulary either - although I have occasionally heard her call someone who has done something very bad a “sh1tehawk” , which used to make me giggle. I have a few of those visiting my garden and I think of that phrase when they poop all over my car as they fly over it!
